story of a form of friendship. simple. maybe, too simple. because it is real easy to define it as a film about nothing. pieces near pieces from every day activities of two men , talks, a book, playing cards , the scaffolding as skin, short scenes and a form of nostalgia poetry of images who gives a special state because it seems be a film about yourself. a film who could as beginning its end. and this could be the most significant thing.

A bland story
Gordon-1116 July 2013
This film is about two neighbours who have not talked to each other despite having moved in for six months. A scaffolding is put up for the renovation of the building, which provides them with a platform to finally socialise with each other.

Despite having a fourteen minute runtime, almost nothing happens in "Scaffolding". We see the two characters break the ice by talking about scaffolding, then they smoke, drink coffee, play cards. And that's it. If there is any attraction between the characters, I did not detect it. There is little emotion, let alone tension. There was nothing even suggestive of gayness in the story. Is it really a gay short? Is there an underlying message that I did not detect? My conclusion is that "Scaffolding" is a bland story about two neighbours, and there is little reason to watch it.
