Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Good second half
This film tells the story of Thor and his team fighting a villain that is determined to destroy the heavenly world.
The first half tries very hard to be funny, but I don't find it funny. The jokes are predictable and stale. In the second half, when Thor is mostly wearing his superhero cape, the film gets a lot more interesting and captivating. I actually wish that the first few scenes are cut, as they are really the weakest link.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Fantastic visuals and captivating story
This film really has fantastic visual effects. The story is very good too, because it has got touching elements of family and love. The story also contains many surprises, and a few laughs too. I enjoyed this captivating journey right from the beginning to the end.
Last Looks (2021)
Too unlikely
I like Charlie Hunnum, and the film looks promising as a mystery film. However, the dialogues are unlikely, the characters are unlikely, the events are unlikely. Everything about this film is so far fetched that I lost interest in it.
Last Words (2020)
Don't know what it was about
I honestly don't know what "Last Words" was about. There's no story, and nothing much happens. I watched it at three times the speed and was still thoroughly bored by the slow pacing.
Last Train to Christmas (2021)
If it wasn't a Christmas film
"Last Train to Christmas" has an interesting concept, but it is far too sad and grim to be a Christmas film. It focuses on past regrets and mistaken decisions. The further the plot goes, the sadder it becomes. If it wasn't a Christmas film, it would have worked.
Doraibu mai kâ (2021)
Unveiled eventually
"Drive My Car" is a slow moving story, but it glides effortlessly that you would not think it is too long or too slow. Events are unveiled eventually in good time. The characters draw you in as well.
The Lost Daughter (2021)
Lost me
"The Lost Daughter" is about a university professor who goes on a holiday in Greece. We then see the present and the past alternately, and we have to guess what happened to her. To be honest, I didn't manage to guess what happened, so I'm lost and confused.
The Eyes of Tammy Faye (2021)
Charismatic characters
"The Eyes of Tammy Faye" shows two charismatic characters, who are perfect for TV hosts. However, the story isn't so strong, and lots of things remain unexplained or are unconvincing. Overall, I still like the film.
Nightmare Alley (2021)
Engrossing
"Nightmare Alley" has an engrossing story. I had no idea what would happen next. There presence of a lot of famous actors and actresses is definitely a bonus draw as well.
Licorice Pizza (2021)
Not intriguing
"Licorice Pizza" tells a meandering journey of two young lovebirds. Things happen in the film, but I don't find the events of the plot intriguing or interesting. I honestly was bored by it.
Benedetta (2021)
Engrossing
"Benedetta" has an engrossing plot. The title character is very interesting because of her actions. Initially it makes you guess what is true, and at the end you just get bewildered by this individual.
Being the Ricardos (2021)
Not resonating with the plot
"Being the Ricardos" features an almost unrecognisable Nicole Kidman, who gives a good performance. I don't quite resonate with the plot though, as I have never heard of the real life characters or the TV show. I find the two main characters a bit too overbearing, so I didn't quite enjoy the plot.
Beyond Skyline (2017)
A bit too forced
The first "Skyline" was actually quite enjoyable "Beyond Skyline" has a lot more action and fights in it, which is a change from the first film. I find the plot about fights in South East Asia a bit too forced, as it was unnecessary to drag recent history into this film.
Skyline (2010)
Better than expected
"Skyline" is actually better than I expected. The story is about a group of people trying to survive an alien attack. The ending offers some surprise. I enjoyed it.
South of Heaven (2021)
A romance film
"South of Heaven" tells a story of a criminal who got out of prison, and is dragged back into the world of crime. However, the focus is the love story, so it is better conceptualised as a romance film with a criminal protagonist. This is perhaps why people who are expecting adrenaline end up being disappointed by this film.
Shattered (2022)
Intriguing
"Shattered" is unexpectedly good. The plot is intriguing and captivating. The two famous actors also helps to make the film more interesting. I enjoyed watching it.
Saving Silverman (2001)
Just for laughs
"Saving Silverman" is a ridiculous comedy that will make the right crowd laugh. It is so unbelievable that you know it just can't happen in real life. It's all there just for laughs.
Separation (2021)
Suspenseful
"Separation" is a horror film about a family coping with big changes. I find the story scary and suspenseful. The thing I like the most is that it also has non scary elements in it too. I enjoyed watching it.
Sundown (2021)
Confusing
The story is quite confusing, as things are not explained at all. We have to guess who is who, what is happening, etc. Things only become slightly clearer at the end, but there are still a lot of questions.
Shut In (2022)
Thrilling and intense
"Shut In" happens mostly in a single room, but it is quite thrilling and intense. The story really draws me in, and makes me care about the safety of the characters. I enjoyed watching it.
Scream (2022)
Unlikely plot
This film is a slasher that requires you to turn your brain off. It is silly at times, and the plot is just very unlikely. It may be alright to kill some time with it.
Spencer (2021)
Good acting
"Spencer" features very good acting by Kristen Stewart. She really brings the character to Life. The script brings Diana's pain to life, and shows how she rebels in her way to regain control of what little she is left to control.
Sing 2 (2021)
Delightful
"Sing 2" is truly delightful to watch! The characters are cute, the colour palette is vibrant, and the songs are good. It will bring a smile to everyone's faces!
Surge (2020)
Can't empathise with the story
"Surge" features Ben Whishaw very prominently, so much that the plot is almost just about him. The plot is almost bizarre, and I just don't understand why he has to do the things he did. I couldn't empathise with him.
Swan Song (2021)
Very slow
"Swan Song" is a very slow paced drama. The story is engaging, with a dramatic ending. However, getting there is slow and rather dull. It is nice to watch a film with such a storyline, but I didn't enjoy it.
