Ess vs Syd, at the MCG.

Warning: Spoilers
Parish back in for the Bombers, after last week's horrible loss. Papley kicks an easy opening goal for the Swans, followed by a running goal on the boundary by Warner, the Swans up 18 at quarter-time. Wright goals from 50 after two consecutive, followed by two more and Essendon hit the lead. Reid ends the 5-goal run, Swans up 4 at the half and 11 by 3-quarter time. Merrett kicks his third and Stringer with back to back goals. Redman goals from 50 to put the Bombers ahead and Hind kicks the sealer. The Bombers just beaten by the bottom side that nearly broke an all-time record of consecutive losing margins, then take out a contender when no one expects it. That's the story of the Bombers right there, though I may be overrating Sydney. Their all out attack, allows for easy ball movement the other way, like Essendon. The Bombers dominated the hit-outs, were +8 in clearances and had considerably more of the footy. Sydney had 8 more inside 50's, for 6 more scoring shots. They had 16 inside 50 tackles, Essendon much more accurate on goal. Warner best afield in the losing side, with 25 disposals, 7 clearances, 13 inside 50's, 727 metres gained, 2 assists and a career-high 3 goals. Parker 26 disposals, 9 clearances, 6 tackles and an assist. For Essendon, Merrett 24 disposals, 5 inside 50's, 6 tackles, 3 goals and an assist. Stringer 17 disposals, 5 inside 50's, 2 goals and 2 assists. Parish 21 disposals, 5 clearances, 7 tackles and 3 assists. Hind 25 disposals, 7 inside 50's, 682 metres gained, a goal and assist.

3. (Syd) C. Warner, 2. (Ess) Z. Merrett, 1. (Ess) J. Stringer.
