Great acting, inciteful to the world of autism
Tattytails8 July 2022
A great series that focuses on the life of an attorney with severe autism. Each episode has it's a challenging case and this attorney's unique abilities that are an asset to she firm she works with. While this series focuses on a more severe form of autism, the story lines for each episode make me smile, cry, and take a more positive view of those with special needs including their strengths. It also shows the prejudice within society for anything not perceived as the norm and how she navigates these challenges with the aid of a co-worker that has taken a special interest in helping her. I have only watched a few episodes thus far, really look forward to the rest of the series.

Autism Representation
eiracornelius22 September 2022
I thought this was a great first episode for the show. I'm Woo's character I really see myself as someone who bounces when they walk or taps their ears when they are overwhelmed. The show does a great job at representing what Woo is going through whether it is representing how she is overstimulated, or if it is how she makes connections in her head to her special interest of whales. I personally also happen to do a lot of the repeating what others say and I just thought that this show did a great job at portraying autism in women. I really enjoyed the first episode and can't wait to watch the second.

Warning: Spoilers
This episode was a great introduction to the whole series, I liked that her first case was related to her acquaintance when she was little, it's also great that this series can inform us about the problems and habits of people with autism.

I need to watch more korean stuff
JonyVeana6 October 2022
Amazing show. Amazing intro and ending sequences, one of the best experiences this year so i need to start watching more south korean dramas and romantic stuff, the protagonist is very fun to watch and very charismatic i just love her and i want to protect her with my life, i like the music too it's very upbeat and enjoyable to listen.

Im excited for the rest of the episodes, they dont feel 70-80 minutes long, they feel shorter because of how enjoyable its to watch this show, the characters are very likable and very unusual, i like the dialogue and scenes beetwen the lawyers and the court scenes are we'll directed.

Not A kdrama
elc20055 January 2024
What I look forward to most in 2024: 1) Rewatching season 1 again hoping enough time has passed so it feels like the first time again.

2) Kang Tae Oh Oppa coming home from the Army and hopefully ready to jump right into filming season 2.

This was only my second kdrama ever, the first being Squid Game 1. I had no idea what a kdrama was, wasn't familiar with the formulaic aspect of the way their shows go, and didn't get the sense of the little tropish things happening.

Well it turns out, it's because EAW is unlike any other kdrama I've ever seen and I have since watched over 100. Don't get me wrong, I have quite a few kdramas on my rewatch list that I give 10/10 stars and are simply amazing shows.

However, EAW has proven to be in a class of its own. It's 100/100 Even the soundtrack and opening theme music is unmatched. Park Eun Bin Baeksang was WELL DESERVED! The other cast members shined in their supporting roles. At no point did I feel like I was watching a show designed specifically for a Korean audience. Forget Squid Game. This is your mainstream crossover hit that I hope everyone in the world watches.

The best part is that the English dubbed version is excellent quality. It's how I initially watched it. A few months into my kdrama addiction I went back and rewatched with the original actors voices and fell in love again.

It's one of my top 10 favorite shows of all time.

Odd for Western Eyes
Hitchcoc8 June 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I am willing to say that this was hard to watch. It wasn't the autism; it was how oddly plotted it was. It seemed to be quite manic. I've never been in a Korean court room during a trial, but it seems that decorum is out the window, with all manner of running around, and people shouting from the gallery. This is Woo's first case. It is about a woman she knew from her childhood who hit her dementia ridden husband with an iron. He is hospitalized and acts violently. He dies during the trial, and the charge becomes murder. Watching this young actress is pretty remarkable. She is masterful in her portrayal of he young autistic lawyer. There are some nice interactions with people who set her up to fail but eventually come to her aid.

Non-disabled actor portrays a disabled person with autism.
packetzir11 August 2022
Korea is behind the times when it comes to properly representing disabled groups. Pretending to be disabled is extremely distasteful, and only exacerbates the stereotypes of a disability. A disability cannot be defined by physical expression itself, which is what acting from a non-disabled person is doing. It's not only distasteful; it's disrespectful. Unfortunately, this is completely lost in Asian cultures. Hopefully, one day, Korea can catch up with the rest of the modern world when it comes to socially acceptable behavior. Please stop the trope.
