When the chief of police of a resort town Marnie Green is found dead with two shots, Lisbon is assigned to investigate the case. She had just arrested the Russian mobster Dimitri Zubov that becomes the prime suspect of the CBI agents. While investigating, Lisbon stumbles upon his younger brother Tommy, who is now a bounty hunter, and her teenage niece Annabeth. They are hunting the embezzler Carmine O'Brien and soon Patrick Jane befriends the girl and teaches her some tricks, while trying to resolve the case.
