The Fruit of the Tree

This is a tale of the worst kind of person. A victimizer who preys on little girls. The problem is that the justice system has to follow evidence as it's produced. A video shows who the woman who killed these children was, and its coming forth after her trial did no good in the sentencing. We all want vengeance at times but the facts have to show that. I guess this is based on a real case. Once again Sara gets way too involved.

Cement Blocks and Chocolate
claudio_carvalho6 November 2023
Nick is dating Dr. Robbins' niece in an art gallery when he notes that one concrete piece is dropping blood. Russell arrives to help him and soon they find a face in the cement. They summon the artist that tells them that he found the piece in a park where people dump their trash. Nick recognizes the flower earring the victim is wearing and remembers a case Sara worked a few years ago. Now she joins the investigation and learns that the serial-killer Gina Sinclair has been recently released from the prison by the justice. Gina and her husband Todd kidnapped teenagers, sexually abused them, then dismembered their bodies and dumped cement blocks with their parts. Todd had assumed the crimes and now the sadistic Gina becomes their prime suspect. Meanwhile, Greg and Morgan Brody investigate the case of a man found dead in an alley. The autopsy indicates that he apparently was drowned in a chocolate tank. They go to the Sinful Pleasures factory and the owner, Angie Salinger, identifies the victim from a photo and tells that he had recently visited the factory asking for a job.

"Bittersweet" is another great episode of "CSI", with two engaging segments. The first one, about the teenagers that are kidnapped, abused and murdered with the severed parts dumped in cement blocks, has a great twist in the end and a surprising conclusion. The other, with the man drowned in a chocolate tank, has also a surprising, but sad and disturbing conclusion with the revelation of what had happened in his life. My vote is eight.

Disturbing One
dianamatrick6 October 2011
Hi, This was an excellent episode although this one reminded me of Karla Holmolka and Paul Bernardo a terrible murder case in Canada. It really disturbed me.Did anyone else feel that way? I'm not sure if this case was even heard of in the States. In Canada it was one of the most horrific murders. It was exactly like this too where the female got off earlier and they were sex tapes that weren't shown in court. It was really a terrible case. I couldn't sleep after watching this episode. I must say I really like Ted Danson he brings a sense of humour and something special. I wish they would have Sarah and William Petersen in it together with a bit of romance. All this death is too much sometimes.

Contains Spoilers - Writers out of ideas?
caseymac1969-19 February 2014
Warning: Spoilers
In the early 90's I lived in Welland and commuted to St Catharines every day to work. I crossed the bridge where Leslie Mahaffy's body was found (dismembered and encased in cement) a dozen times a week. Trying to give Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka a fair trial (they should have been gut shot and left to rot in my opinion) most facts of this case were kept from Canadians. The only information we were able to get was in the form of newspapers from the USA that managed to get smuggled across the border (much like Bernardo used to smuggle illegal cigarettes). After the trial all the gory details were released but, until then, we had no info about the monsters who raped and tortured over a dozen girls and women. They killed three but, as the Scarborough Rapist, Bernardo raped over 18 women and those are just the ones we know about. If you want to know more about the actual case the best book I've found on the subject is called "Lethal Marriage" written by Nick Pron. CSI writers using this horrific case: one of the darkest, most disturbing times in Canadian history; as the basis for one of their episodes is beyond atrocious! It's downright disgusting. If this is the level CSI has sunk to, I'm done with them. This episode was a terrible idea from start to finish.

Kristen was obducted within 500 feet form my home

Kristen was abducted within 500 feet from my home (I lived on the next street over). So I thought about this for many years. I eventually had to move away. I read both books because I thought if I knew more I could understand. I even saw the concrete that she was encased in (in police evidence room). I got to know too much information. I wont finish watching this show because it brings back too much. I thought about her every time I was in her old high school too. I will never forget what those animals did. NEVER. It sickens me that Karla got away with it. That animal should not have lived this long. The legal system seems to have under shot yet again.
