Cement Blocks and Chocolate
6 November 2023
Nick is dating Dr. Robbins' niece in an art gallery when he notes that one concrete piece is dropping blood. Russell arrives to help him and soon they find a face in the cement. They summon the artist that tells them that he found the piece in a park where people dump their trash. Nick recognizes the flower earring the victim is wearing and remembers a case Sara worked a few years ago. Now she joins the investigation and learns that the serial-killer Gina Sinclair has been recently released from the prison by the justice. Gina and her husband Todd kidnapped teenagers, sexually abused them, then dismembered their bodies and dumped cement blocks with their parts. Todd had assumed the crimes and now the sadistic Gina becomes their prime suspect. Meanwhile, Greg and Morgan Brody investigate the case of a man found dead in an alley. The autopsy indicates that he apparently was drowned in a chocolate tank. They go to the Sinful Pleasures factory and the owner, Angie Salinger, identifies the victim from a photo and tells that he had recently visited the factory asking for a job.

"Bittersweet" is another great episode of "CSI", with two engaging segments. The first one, about the teenagers that are kidnapped, abused and murdered with the severed parts dumped in cement blocks, has a great twist in the end and a surprising conclusion. The other, with the man drowned in a chocolate tank, has also a surprising, but sad and disturbing conclusion with the revelation of what had happened in his life. My vote is eight.
