Our good friend actor Robert Davi has a sensational second career as a crooner. His Sinatra tribute show is getting rave reviews and the Huffington Post called him "a legend in the making". Now Davi has just released a wonderful new single on CD. New York City Christmas calls to mind the kind of unapologetically old-fashioned, sentimental holiday songs you just don't hear anymore. If you haven't heard him sing, you're in for a real treat.(We love that cover art by Steve Penley). Here is the official press release:
Los Angeles, CA--Singer/actor Robert Davi will be releasing his forthcoming “New York City Christmas” single for the upcoming holiday season. The song was recorded at the iconic Capitol Records’ Studio A, where Frank Sinatra, Nat “King” Cole and The Beatles once laid down some of their most memorable work. Pick Of The Week
Dredd (DVD/Blu-ray)
The future America is an irradiated waste land. On its East Coast, running from Boston to Washington DC, lies Mega City One–a vast, violent metropolis where criminals rule the chaotic streets. The only force of order lies with the urban cops called “Judges” who possess the combined powers of judge, jury and instant executioner. Known and feared throughout the city, Dredd (Karl Urban, The Lord of the Rings, Star Trek) is the ultimate Judge, challenged with ridding the city of its latest scourge–a...

In recent years, there has been a new contingent of excellent Westerns that have been flying under the radar and this film; Yellow Rock is a nice addition.
In part, similar to a Peckinpah such as The Wild Bunch, the film has enough of its own style to stand on its two cowboy boots! Director Nick Vallelonga is quite competent in this often-filmed genre.
Evocative music plays in the background of an opening scene in which a lone rider – shades of the marvelous, Clint Eastwood, rides his horse slowly down a rugged hill. The cinematography is appropriately dusty and dirty. The landscape is both beautiful and cruel.
He isn’t in the town very long before another group arrives. The first man is drunk in a church. Something happened in his life – something tragic. The new group’s leader, Max Dietrich, asks his old friend, Tom...

The Victim
Stars: Michael Biehn, Jennifer Blanc, Ryan Honey, Danielle Harris, Denny Kirkwood | Written and Directed by Michael Biehn
2011 was a busy year for Michael Biehn, with roles in Jacob, The Divide, Take Me Home Tonight, Puncture and Yellow Rock. And somewhere in between all that he managed, along with his wife Jennifer, to write, direct and star in the grindhouse-esque The Victim.
Biehn plays Kyle, a recluse living in a cabin in the woods, keeping himself to himself and spends his days and nights listening to self-help books and watching online self-help videos. However he unassuming life is shattered when Annie (Blanc) comes knocking at his door one night in a blind panic. You see Annie and her friend Mary (Harris) were partying it up in the woods with two cops, Harrison (Honey) and Cooger (Kirkwood), from the local Sheriff’s department when Mary, mid-coitus, is accidentally killed by Harrison.

Subject: Michael Biehn, 53-year old American actor (turned writer and director)
Date of Assessment: March 2, 2011
Positive Buzzwords: Intensity, ability to speak wordless volumes, James Cameron
Negative Buzzwords: Lack of star power, James Cameron
The Case: Upon initial contemplation of this week's subject, the first question that springs to mind is this: What the hell ever happened to Michael Biehn? Such an involuntary reaction is based upon an assumption that Biehn's a relatively lost visage of the 1980s; but anyone who's been paying attention would realize that Biehn's been (for the most part) working steadily as an actor even though his big-time blockbuster roles have long since ceased to exist. Naturally, he came from humble beginnings by steadily landing a lot of television work, including both regular series (even an "ABC Afternoon Special") and made-for-tv movies before moving into feature films. Upon arrival within the celluloid realm, Biehn initially appeared to...
