Claudia remarks that she and Zane share the same last name. Though they are not shown to be related, both Donovans share several similarities, as they are each unparalleled in their respective fields, neither are much for rules or protocol, and are each known for displaying sharp wit and sarcastic sense of humor at inappropriate times. Both eventually become staples at their respective jobs after having been considered delinquents or malcontents in their respective lives previously. In fact, both of them were notorious hackers before being offered their current jobs.
The title "Crossing Over" has a double meaning. It refers to the plot of the episode, wherein items from 1947 cross over into 2010 time and space; and it refers to this episode being a crossover between the series Eureka (2006) and Warehouse 13 (2009).
When Dr. Grant is suffering great pain from the exotic particles he says, "Looks like I picked the wrong day to quit smoking." This line is reminiscent of Lloyd Bridges' line used in the disaster spoof movie AIRPLANE, "Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit smoking."
The "Crossover" literally ends with a Warehouse 13 closure.
Warehouse 13 had elaborate ways of going to and from commercials. Elaborate of Elaborate was Bronzing a character. Another was a warehouse crate unscrewed and screwed.
This episode ends with three metal door panels sealing shut - in a fashion styled for Warehouse 13.

In another crossover reference to Warehouse 13, Claudia Donovan receives a phone call from Artie, who is played by Saul Rubinek, who also played Carl Carlson in S1E05 of Eureka.
