Phish staged perhaps their smallest gig in decades as they packed into a cubicle for NPR’s latest Tiny Desk concert.
Over the course of five songs and 35 minutes, the legendary jam band delivered a performance that spanned their decades-long discography, from the title track of their just-released album Evolve to “You Enjoy Myself,” a live favorite first featured on the band’s 1988 debut LP Junta (and guitarist Trey Anastasio’s personal pick for the potential last-ever-song played by Phish, as he recently told Rolling Stone).

While this is Phish’s first time performing a Tiny Desk Concert, the band’s members have participated in the series in the past, like when guitarist Trey Anastasio performed a solo set in 2015, riffing on the theme song for NPR’s flagship news program All Things Considered. Phish swam over to The Tonight Show Thursday to perform the title track from their new album Evolve, and even cover a bit of Aerosmith.
The band helped craft the show’s cold open with Jimmy Fallon and the Roots’ Questlove and Black Thought. The bit saw Phish getting into an elevator with the host and musicians and, immediately after the door closed, break into a fully a cappella, perfectly harmonized, parody cover of Aerosmith’s “Love in an Elevator” with lyrics tweaked to, “Phish in an Elevator.”

When it comes to cultural clout, Radiohead might have a leg-up on Phish, but according to the band’s guitarist Ed O’Brien, that might not always be the best thing. According to a new interview with Trey Anastasio, O’Brien once told him that Phish’s audiences are more engaged during concerts than Radiohead’s.
The comments came in Anastasio’s new interview with Rolling Stone. “Ed O’Brien from Radiohead came to one of our shows, and gave me one of the greatest compliments in between sets,” Anastasio began. “He watched the show from the audience, and then he came backstage and he said, ‘I spent a lot of the night facing backwards. I was watching the last row of the arena, in the way back, all the way at the top. Every single person in the room was completely involved in the concert.’”

Phish’s new album album, Evolve, has officially arrived. To support the release of their 16th studio release, the band appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday night for a performance of its title track, “Evolve.”
Taking The Tonight Show stage, Phish locked into an easy-flowing groove for the performance of “Evolve,” delivering the song’s reflective lyrics over a warm, mid-tempo arrangement. Leaning into their jammy tendencies, guitarist Trey Anastasio and keyboardist Page McConnell each take solos, as the musical ideas interplay underneath. Watch a video of the performance below.

It’s been a busy week for Trey Anastasio. On Sunday, the Phish guitarist joined Billy Joel onstage at his penultimate Madison Square Garden residency show. On Thursday, he stopped by another New York event: The Songwriters Hall of Fame ceremony, where he covered Steely Dan.
You can catch the eight-minute video below, where Anastasio kicks off with 1976’s “Kid Charlemagne,” then dives into the Dan classic “Reelin’ In the Years.”
“When he played the “Baker’s Dozen” down the street at Msg, he played 237 songs over 13 nights,” the announcer said of the band’s 2017 residency.

The rock tune is now featured as the opening theme for the spring 2024 TV anime The Banished Former Hero Lives as He Pleases , in which he is also cast as its protagonist, Allen. "Evolve" released digitally on March 29. "In my mind, the theme of this new song is 'Beyond'," Aoi said in a recent interview with News Post Seven . "The song expresses the excitement of wondering what the future holds beyond the present with a fast-paced melody. For the past ten years, I have been seeking what others are not doing. The authentic way is important, but it is meaningless to be Shouta Aoi if that is all I do. I am able to challenge new things in this way because I have fans who...

Angela Bassett's Oscar campaign was all but sealed when "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" premiered in November 2022. It's true that comic book movies are very rarely brought into the awards conversation, at least when it comes to performance categories — though not for lack of trying. But this is Angela Bassett we're talking about, and her performance as Queen Ramonda, the grieving mother and sovereign of Wakanda, was downright Shakespearean. Marvel's Cinematic Universe has never been short on strong performances, but Bassett's turn in "Wakanda Forever" is not one that the Academy could have easily ignored.
Bassett made history as the first actor to be nominated for their performance in a Marvel Studios project. She was also the only Black female performer recognized by the Academy in 2023 — after shocking snubs for Daniel Deadwyler and Viola Davis. Whichever way you slice it, this nomination is a pretty big deal, and fans and...

Going slow is not an option for millennials in our fast-paced environment. Multitasking has become a need for everyone, from working professionals and students to housewives and parents. However, in this “on the go” culture, individuals forget to live in the present moment. While rushing to do required duties, you may lose touch with the present moment, missing out on what you’re doing and how you’re feeling. This has resulted in increasing stress and worry. To avoid this, you might practise mindfulness to shift your focus to smaller events-and enjoy the little things in life.
Mindfulness is now being examined scientifically as it plays a key role to reduce stress and anxiety, improving attention and memory, and promoting self-regulation and empathy. It is known to improve one’s overall well-being – physical and mental. Although mindfulness is an easy practice, one needs a guide and ways to get started with it.
