Ram Gopal Varma’s Rann is in trouble again, 10 days before its release. Sonal Mehta has sued the director and the producers, claiming credit and remuneration for the film’s script. Last year, Mehta had filed a complaint against Varma in the Film Writers’ Association, this time she’s moved court. Varma is non-plussed: “This has happened with me earlier, during Sarkar Raj and Agyaat too. At the Factory, I had 20-30 people working on 30-40 ideas. I liked this script written by Rohit Banawilkar. If it’s not my script, why would I not give credit where its due?” Why now?Producer Sheetal ...

Mahendra Singh Dhoni.s ego got a jhatka on Wednesday night, when he bumped into Ram Gopal Varma at the airport in Bangalore. He walked up to Ramu in the VIP lounge to greet him and the director mistook him for a pesky wannabe actor. Apparently, he breezily dismissed the captain, saying, .Please take my office number. Drop off your photos there..While a poor, bewildered Dhoni is left scratching his head, trying to figure out that googly, Ramu seems to be living in a bubble. Maybe that.s the only way to live with yourself after inflicting a horror like Agyaat on an unsuspecting public. But this bubble therapy sure has become a cause for embarrassment.Though Ramu denies telling Dhoni to drop off photographs, he agrees that he treated him like any upcoming actor who lurks around, pouncing on any opportunity to attract his attention. He says,...

Characteristically defiant as hell, Ram Gopal Varma intends to go ahead with a sequel to his just-released shiver giver Agyaat. The film has garnered extremely mixed reviews. But ask Ramu if he cares. "I'd have been seriously worried if the reviews had been favourable. The critics were just as harsh on my previous horror film Phoonk. Bengali actress Priyanka Kothari, currently starring in Agyaat, would love to meet a ghost - even though she doesn't believe in them. However, she says the shooting for Agyaat was bedeviled with bad luck. "As soon as I entered the jungle, I broke my ankle which was followed by the broken leg of one of the crew members,” she explains. Soon after that, one of the camerapersons got an electric shock with the result that the camera was lost in the river water nearby."
After a bumpy start, Priyanka's career is finally beginning to take root, due partly to her hot promo number for Agyaat. She admits, however, that her time spent shooting for the movie in the rainforests of Sri Lanka was not the happiest time of her life."I was living with 10 lizards and five frogs in my room," she explains, "One day a monkey entered my room and stole my jewellery box.

One thing has to be given to Ram Gopal Verma that his film after film continues to venture into the unchartered territory, Agyaat so to say, to unleash a spectacle that has the full potential to zap the audience out of its ennui. What was the reason behind going to the Sigiriya jungle in Sri Lanka?
There is no jungle scarier than the Sigiria Jungles. The place is so scary that every minute one fears any creature may be coming your way. Big animals like tigers and small animals like snakes could be the intruders. One always fears that a creature may pop up from beneath the bush and bite you. One fears the bushy jungles, as we needed to shoot at the wee hrs. This Jungle is the most.

This Friday will see the release of as many as three films-Ram Gopal Varma's Agyaat, Satish Kaushik's Teree Sang and the Ujjwal Singh directed Chal Chalein. As his ‘Agyaat’ gets all set to release at theaters, Ram Gopal Varma explains that how as a filmmaker, one tends to take audiences into a different kind of mental situation as appropriate to the genre of the subject.
“In a movie like ‘Phoonk’ or ‘Bhooth’, I had to transport audiences to a mental situation where they start believing that something like this could be happening in their own household. This is why I brought in an urban and cosmopolitan setting for the film,” he states.
The ’setting’ factor is the major reason why ‘Agyaat’.

A marketing gimmick for Rgv's latest thriller Agyaat backfired when a resident reported to the police that a corpse was hanging from a billboard in Amboli. When the police arrived, they found it was a promotion for a new movie. "We rushed to the spot after receiving the call," said Inspector Kailash Gamande, "The puppet looked very life-like and gruesome and a large mob had gathered thinking that the hanging man was a victim of a gruesome murder."
Residents demanded that the gruesome effigies be removed and the producers Utv obliged but Ram Gopal Varma defended the stunt. "Since Agyaat falls in the scary film genre where something is out to kill everyone, we had planned this concept as an outdoor innovation for creating a mood in the context of the film," he explained.

Click above for more movie stills Till yesterday evening, the team of Agyaat was worried if Censor board would come down heavily on the film. Other than the fact that the film is an adventure thriller (that's the way Ramu insists on calling the film rather than slotting it as a 'supernatural thriller' or a 'horror flick' or a 'slasher drama'), what further worried Agyaat team was the rundown that it had with the Censor board around the controversial number in Rann. However, there was nothing untoward that happened once the film was shown to Censors as they happily passed it with just two minor cuts. Not just that, they also granted the film a U/A certificate, something that is a good reason to celebrate. Reason being that Ramu's earlier horror/thriller films like Raat, Bhoot, Kaun and Phoonk have all been handed over an 'A' certificate. The two...

Pretty Priyanka Kothari found herself sharing room space with the one thing she detests most for eight weeks - a loungeful of lizards - whilst filming Rgv's new horror flick, Agyaat. "I had to live with eight creepy lizards who used to roam around in my room," she explains, "I can say that I'm braver now. Earlier, I used to be petrified if I used to see even one lizard in my room - but I had so many in close proximity in the same room in the jungle for so long I got used to them."
Priyanka has been shooting for the movie in the rich and verdant Sigiriya rainforest of Sri Lanka with southern actor Nitin for the movie. The shoot hasn't been an easy one in such primitive conditions. "A lot of things happened with me during the shooting - like my ankle injury, elbow injury, then so many scratches,...

Ram Gopal Varma’s Agyaat might lack the lustrous star-power to boast off. Still, this talented director’s latest venture manages to fetch media attention.
According to our reliable sources, one of the highlights of the film, a song loosely resembling ‘Dum Maro Dum’ of Hare Ram Hare Krishna, titled ‘Jai Shiv Shambu’ has been scrutinized.
Actually the song has been shot on Nisha Kothari renamed Priyanka Kothari, consuming drugs, puffing cigars, which has not been approved of by censor board. And thus, the authority ordered Ramu to edit the song again.

Click above for more movie stills Well, if at all there is anyone who can be called as the personification of controversy... better still... controversy's favorite child, then, needless to say that Ram Gopal Varma will win it hands down! Not the one new to problems and disagreements, Ramu is at in again, this time with the Censor Board asking him to re-edit the track 'Jai Shri Shambhu' from his forthcoming film Agyaat. The Censor Board reasoned it out that in the said track, the film's lead heroine Priyanka Kothari, is seen puffing a chillum while she croons 'Dum Maaro, Yeh Hai Sahara'. The Board asked to re-edit the said song, but only for television as it depicts substance abuse. On his part, Ramu, who is aghast with the turn of events, opined, ''People can take drugs and show in film, that's ok. There is so much discretion on part of censor board.
