The 2024 TIFF Discovery program has been announced, with the buzzy “Bonjour Tristesse” opening the lineup.
Presented by Air France, the Discovery program debuts first-time features and sophomore films from emerging international filmmakers. This year, the festival has 24 titles with 20 world premieres representing 25 countries ranging from Bangladesh to Nigeria.
Durga Chew-Bose’s adaptation of Françoise Sagan’s novel “Bonjour Tristesse” will open the program. The film centers on 18-year-old Cécile (Lily McInerny) who is enjoying the French seaside with her father, Raymond (Claes Bang) and his lover Elsa (Naïlia Harzoune). Yet the arrival of her late mother’s friend Anne (Chloë Sevigny) changes everything. Per the official synopsis, “amid the sun-drenched splendour of their surroundings, Cécile’s world is threatened and, desperate to regain control, she sets in motion a plan to drive Anne away with tragic consequences.”
Chew-Bose writes and directs the film, which is represented by UTA for distribution sales.

General Hospital spoilers and rumors tease that in a possible leak, Lucky Spencer (Jonathan Jackson) will find Spencer Cassadine (most recently Nicholas Alexander Chavez) and bring him to Laura Collins (Genie Francis). Spencer has been missing and presumed dead for a long time now, and it’s been a long time since Lucky saw him-he was a kid, but he would recognize his nephew.
General Hospital Spoilers – The Turtle Dove In The Water Reminded Many Of Sonny Corinthos’ Presumed Death
The turtle dove in the water shown in the last scene reminded many of what happened to Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) in Nixon Falls.
He was in the snow, washed up on shore from the river he fell in, and had amnesia-and his father’s watch with the name “Mike”. Spencer could very well be alive somewhere but either badly injured or recovering or with amnesia like Sonny-and a mysterious turtle dove.

Launch of Surat Diamond Bourse (Sdb) has catapulted it to a unique position as being the World’s largest office building surpassing Pentagon. If we remember, in most of the Hollywood movies Pentagon building invariably featured as a backdrop or a location for the films which catapulted this building to a place of eminence around the world. With the launch of Sdb, one hopes that Sdb henceforth holds fort in all the forms of cinematic exposition, be it cinema, Ott or serials from India and make it a must visit itinerary for travellers in the near future.

The SAG-AFTRA strike is already putting a squeeze on actors’ finances — even for an Emmy winner.
Billy Porter, who shot to fame and won an Emmy on the FX drama Pose, now says he has to sell his house due to the financial strain of the strike. “I have to sell my house,” he tells the UK’s Evening Standard, “because we’re on strike.” For an artist like Porter, “until you make f–k-you money — which I haven’t made yet,” life is still paycheck-to-paycheck, he says. “I was supposed to be in a new movie, and on...

Perry Sook, CEO of The CW’s owner, Nexstar, likes the netlet’s chances even as the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes push the returning scripted series Walker, All American, Superman & Lois and All American: Homecoming “further and further into 2024.”
“We are confident [the strikes] will not hurt our forward progress at The CW,” Sook said Tuesday during a quarterly earnings call (per Deadline). “The majority of our fall slate was material already developed, and for unscripted.”

Twice-impeached former president Donald Trump is convinced he’s getting arrested on Tuesday and, though he may be calling it a “witch hunt,” among other things, Jimmy Fallon thinks there might be at least one aspect of getting apprehended that Trump is going to enjoy.
During his monologue on Monday night, Fallon joked that Trump actually deserves some credit for his Truth Social post announcing his arrest on Saturday, saying that “it’s not often that everyone sends out a ‘Save the Date’ for their own arrest.” Of course, it’s worth noting that’s Trump’s claim was not officially confirmed by authorities, or even by anyone on his own team.
In his post on Saturday, Trump wrote that “The Far & Away Leading Republican Candidate & Former President Of The United States Of America, Will Be Arrested On Tuesday Of Next Week.”
