Lavish by current porn standards, this Italian XXX vehicle for local superstar Asia D'Argento presents the usual anal sex extravaganza in at least an attempted throwback to Old School filmmaking.
It's set in the year 1189, dealing with The Crusades, Richard the Lion Hearted and even (via a cameo) Robin Hood. Horst Baron, the talented porn actor who oddly enough was stunt cock for Willem Dafoe in a sort of mainstream (made by hack Lars von Trier) movie, plays Lord Byron, not the poet from 600 years later of course, and is even sloppily credited as "Horst Byron".
But it is the busty redhead (who wears a blonde wig during one stretch of the film) D'Argento who dominates, performing her XXX scenes with gusto. And she often looks directly at the camera during sex (or right after) in common with her femme co-stars, a technique pioneered by director Antonio Adamo two decades ago but considered hokey more recently.
Shot on Budapest area locations and a nice segment in the desert when the Crusades plotline is undertaken, the film includes amateurish but welcome action and pageantry scenes. Weirdest scene is a threesome ending in the actress pelted with endless Golden Showers into her mouth by the two studs after their money shots, so overdone as to be laughable rather than a gross-out.
