Chicken Cluckers
Hitchcoc23 February 2021
I'm pretty sure professional hypnotists would tell you the limitations of their craft. I don't buy that one could get eight people on a stage and have them all think they are chickens. The woman in question has an amazing power of suggestion. This reminded me of those Bela Lugosi movies of the 30's where his eyes would peer into his victims and get them to act. I would like to hear a professional analysis of this offering. We also had the sad case of a man arrested for murder when he pulled the plug on his wife, on life support for eight years. We have the brief return of Sara Sidle who walks in an helps out.

After Two Great Episodes...
claudio_carvalho30 March 2023
When the upper-class Sprig Greniger receives a phone call, she wears a bikini and commits suicide, jumping off her balcony onto a bus, Catherine, Nick and David Phillips investigate the case. Soon they learn that Sprig was going to marry her boyfriend Brett Davison, who lives with her, in two weeks. Further, she was applying to unemployment since she was fired from the bank where she worked and was worried of being fat in the wedding photos, and was submitted to a severe diet. When Nick checks the surveillance video from the bank, he sees Sprig giving ten thousand dollars to a beard stranger, but she had no recollection of what happened. When Catherine sees and identical case s another woman named Grace Power, they suspect that they have been hypnotized. Meanwhile, Grissom investigate the murder of a woman, Paula Bonfilio, in an alley by someone very angry. Det. Willian and Grissom visit her son, Scott, and learn that her two-year-old sister is missing, and there is an Amber alert in Las Vegas. Det. Sam Vega and Greg go to the hospital, where the husband of Pamela Adler, Tom, unplugged her wife from the apparatuses after eight years. Sara arrives in the crime scene to help the investigation, since it was an old case of her.

"The Happy Place" is a reasonable episode of "CSI". It is inevitable the great expectation and the comparison with the two last episodes, that are among the best of this series, reason why frustrates a little. But anyway, there are two segments well-resolved, with the entire team. My vote is seven.

Amazing episode
lastliberal11 November 2008
This was an amazing episode on so many levels.

The suicide of one woman was unexplained until they happened to talk to another, who was also a bank teller, and discovered a link that was just incredible. I am not sure this is possible, but it made for a compelling and funny story.

The husband who pulled his wife's tubes after eight years of suffering was touching, even as it mirrored the relationship of Grissom and Sidle, and the need that Grissom had for Sidle to break the relationship.

But, the most amazing story was the woman who was murdered in an alley, and her "son." When this all came out, it was a shocker that was not to be believed and an outstanding piece of creativity on the part of the writers.

Oh man, what a cliché

Warning: Spoilers
SPOILERS

Some episodes are very rewarding, others make one wonder why we waste our time watching this. This episode belongs to the latter category. When I saw the bank teller videos showing a bearded "man" getting $10,000 in change for two fifties on two separate occasions from two separate tellers with impeccable records, I immediately pieced this one together - post-hypnotic suggestion, woman with fake beard - though it took the CSIs a little more time. The one thing that made me hesitate was that this theme is so old and hackneyed that I couldn't believe the writers would have the temerity to use it.

The Sara Sidle bit should have been left out but I guess that after 8 years, she must have a fan base. I don't dislike her, but she's a somewhat bland character, there's no chemistry between her and Grissom, and the writing to get her into the show when she doesn't even have a job there is just contrived.

The other story is half-decent, but the actor couldn't carry it.

I get the impression that the well is drying up.
