Ninja Kamui Anime Review: Did the Series 'Fall Off'? - Main Image
Ninja Kamui’s final episode aired earlier this month. Now, reactions online show that Ninja Kamui’s reception is mixed after its promising start.
When the series began, it got a lot of attention for its bloody action scenes featuring director Sunghoo Park’s signature dynamic martial arts fights.
Sadly, the show wasn’t able to keep its momentum given its shift to CG action. Still, it would be unfair to call it a trainwreck as there are still plenty of redeeming qualities in this Adult Swim anime.
Spoiler Warning: This article includes spoilers for Ninja Kamui, so proceed with caution.
Ninja Kamui Review: A Promising Intro Marred by a Sudden CG Turn
Sunghoo Park is the popular director behind Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 and The God of High School. Thus, his move to establish the new studio E&h Production was exciting.

Studio Mappa, which has brought us such hits as Terror in Resonance, Yuri!!! on Ice, In This Corner of the World, Kakegurui, Banana Fish, Zombie Land Saga, Dorohedoro, The God of High School, Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan: The Final Season, Vinland Saga Season 2, Chainsaw Man, and Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku, has announced a completely new, original anime series titled Zenshu, which is going to be released at an undisclosed date in the future.
Mappa has decided to tackle the rom-com genre but from a meta-perspective: namely, the main character, Natsuko Hirose, is a genius anime creator, but she now has to tackle a project that will prove to be a challenge for her. Namely, she has to create a rom-com anime herself, but the problem is that she herself has never been in love before, which makes her job all the more difficult. The first poster for the film was also released,...

Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel relaunched the Superman franchise, with Henry Cavill taking on the titular role. It is indeed a favorite of many superhero fans and is also one of the most successful. Just like fans, Korean animator, Yongje Park has high regard for the movie, particularly highlighting the director’s take on Superman and the quality of action sequences used in the movie.
Henry Cavill as Superman in 2013’s Man of Steel
In a viral video, he is seen claiming that comic book movies (CBMs) reign supreme in action. However, it is exciting to see his points on how Korean animators understood the whole thing.

The isekai formula is simple — the protagonist is reborn or transported to another world, often caused by sudden death. With memories and knowledge of their previous life, the protagonist experiences their new one with a desire to grow stronger, avoid dying or set out to fulfill their dreams. Lately there has been a rise in “shojosei” isekai. If you’ve been around long enough, you’d have figured out just from seeing the term that it merges “shojo” and “josei,” two genres marketed toward different audiences: younger women and adult women, respectively. One of the earliest examples of shojo isekai is Fushigi Yugi , but in the years since, we’ve seen a heavier emphasis on isekai with male protagonists. It’s already tough as a shojo fan (more on this in another article), but it’s another to be in communities where we’re constantly swept off to the side...

It’s last call for a number of excellent Comedy Central series as well as a handful of genuinely great films on HBO Max this month.
On Oct. 31, the Comedy Central shows “Key and Peele,” “Nathan for You,” “Inside Amy Schumer,” “Reno 911!” and “Chappelle’s Show” (the first two seasons) will depart HBO Max, likely heading to Paramount+ at some point in November.
Also leaving HBO Max this month is the Halsey music film “If I Can’t Have Love I Want Power,” as well as the surprisingly great horror prequel “Annabelle: Creation.” Other noteworthy depatures include “Capote,” “High Fidelity,” “Jerry Maguire,” “McCabe and Mrs. Miller,” the 1994 version of “Little Women” and the “Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants” movies.
Check out the full list of what’s leaving HBO Max in October below.

In a time of reboots, remakes and sequels, Wattpad Webtoon is aiming to bring more original stories to Hollywood and counter that franchise bloat. As Wattpad Webtoon Studios president Aron Levitz tells Variety, the goal is to show production banners and media platforms that loyal webcomic and series fans will tune in to their TV adaptations of those titles. And so far, it’s working.
The Webtoon-adapted K-drama “Sweet Home” and Wattpad-originated young adult film series “The Kissing Booth,” both on Netflix, has given the company an early boost in making Hollywood inroads. And now, the recent hire of former Fox Entertainment and AMC Entertainment president David Madden as head of global entertainment is another example of the company’s move to further ramp up its entertainment industry presence.
“We’re better and stronger with two massive IP libraries, united with tons of stories and over 166 million people around the world coming to create,...

This Jujutsu Kaisen 0 review contains no spoilers.
The anthology magazine Weekly Shonen Jump has published many blockbuster manga throughout its decades-long history. Most have become anime. In recent memory, these titles have included the ninja epic Naruto, the superhero-themed My Hero Academia, and the record-shattering Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. In October 2020, Jujutsu Kaisen joined their ranks with a 24-episode TV anime.
Much like Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen‘s popularity skyrocketed once the anime began airing. By the time the season concluded in early 2021, fans were clamoring for a second one. The manga is still serializing, after all, so there’s plenty of material left to adapt. Instead, the production team announced a prequel film, Jujutsu Kaisen 0.
Set one year prior to the main series, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 introduces us to Yuta Okkotsu. Fans of the TV anime will recognize the name. Yuta has been mentioned multiple times,...

Anime’s popularity in America has reached a point where there are now multiple streaming services that offer ways to consume this content. There’s no need to get unnecessarily overwhelmed with all of these options for where to get anime. Here’s a helpful breakdown of not just the anime-exclusive streamers, but also the services that you may already have that are full of satisfying anime content.

With Lovecraft Country still providing HBO and HBO Max with its horror content through October, the streamer is looking elsewhere for its spooky season offerings. HBO Max’s new releases for October 2020 feature some truly awesome horror library titles.
Jordan Peele’s Us, John Carpenter’s The Thing, and David Fincher’s Se7en all arrive on Oct. 1. That alone should be enough to last you through spooky season. And if it doesn’t, It: Chapter Two is right there as well. October is also a big month for Batman and Superman with Man of Steel arriving on Oct. 1 along with a whole of animated specials dropping that same day.
In relation to the library titles, this isn’t HBO Max’s strongest month from an original perspective. But there is still plenty to like here. The West Wing election special arrives on Oct. 15. That will be followed by David Byrne...
