Seems that a remake of a classic once again can take the box office by storm. Agneepath, which is a new telling of the classic Amitabh Bachchan starrer is well on its way to be an iconic film itself and it has only been in the theater for one day. The Karan Malhotra directed Agneepath, starring Hrithik Roshan, Sanjay Dutt, Rishi Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra had absoultely incredible opening day numbers. The film has already raked in approximately over 20 crore! If at the end of the day that number indeed ends up to be true or, as it is looking to be, even higher it will be the biggest opening day ever.
Audiences are so loving this film in India that at every showing we hear there are whistles, claps and screams and more! At a theater fans actually were putting garlands on the posters and hoardings.
Critically it is...

Madonna was reported to have her directorial debut "W.E." premiere at the Cannes Film Festival, but reps for the film say it won't be ready by then.
According to Hollywood Reporter and IMGlobal, the news that "W.E." would premiere at Cannes, which is scheduled to take place in May, is false. The film is currently in post-production but isn't expected to premiere until the fall.
Madonna is, however, set to screen an early cut of the film for distributors in Berlin next month. Her next Cannes date (she last premiered her Malawi documentary "I Am Because We Are" there in 2008) will have to wait.
"W.E," starring Abbie Cornish and Oscar Isaac, is based on a screenplay by Madonna and Alek Keshishian. It tells parallel love stories between Wallis Simpson and King Edward VIII and a modern romance in the 80's.

Jose here. If The King's Speech hasn't given you enough of socialite Wallis Simpson to last you for a while -- I personally thought Eve Best's performance was the best thing in the movie and she should be getting the praise Hbc is getting. But that's a whole other matter. Back to our post -- all you have to do is remember that our beloved Madonna is making an entire movie about her.
The shooting has remained pretty secretive and other than a few pictures the paparazzi have snagged (like rising star Andre Riseborough as Simpson to your left), we don't really know what the thing's looking like.
Maybe we won't have to wait much longer. Madonna has decided she wants her film to be part of the Cannes Film Festival just a few months away. French newspaper Le Parisien is reporting that the pop icon plans to have...

Pop queen Madonna's overanalysis of every scene while shooting her directorial project W.E., has been irritating her cast and crew to no end. Apparently she took three hours to shoot a 10-second bath scene with Australian actress Abbie Cornish, said a source from the sets, reports contactmusic.com. Madonna has earlier directed only one other project - Filth and Wisdom which released in 2008, apart from being the writer of a documentary I Am Because We Are. Her latest project is a two-tier tale about Britain's King Edward VIII's relationship with American Wallis Simpson and a modern story regarding a woman called Wally Simpson. ...

The Wizard Of Oz 70th Anniversary Ultimate Collector’S Edition (Warner Bros.) A true highlight in digital restoration technology, Warner Bros. restoration of the 1939 classic is cause for celebration. The Technicolor of the late ‘30s looks as though it was shot yesterday, and is especially stunning on Blu-ray, which was produced by scanning each of the film’s original Technicolor camera negatives using 8K resolution. From this scan, a final “capture” master was created in 4K, yielding twice the resolution seen in the master utilized for the film’s previous DVD release. Judy Garland’s Dorothy is charming as ever, and the entire cast: Ray Bolger, Bert Lahr, Jack Haley and Margaret Hamilton as the Wicked Witch, are all stellar. Four disc set bonuses include: Sing-along track; Documentaries and featurettes; Two 1914 silent films produced by Oz author L. Frank Baum, based on his stories...

Hello, Jose here to remind you all that it's Madonna's birthday!
The Queen of pop/ businesswoman/ kabbalist/ mother/ 90's tabloid fodder/ safe sex advocate/ sex advocate/ entrepeneur/ icon is celebrating her 51st birthday today (and with those arms!). But along with everything she's done, many people forget (on purpose mostly...) that she's also an actress/director. The notorious perfectionist has never been able to master the cinematic arts, even if she tries and tries and tries. But since it's her birthday we should acknowledge that not all she's done for the silver screen is bad and since we can't take a holiday to get into the groove with her, here's...
51 Reasons to Celebrate Madonna... in the Movies!
51. Daring to take on a role created by Katharine Hepburn...sort of in Who's That Girl.
50. Her endorsement of Michael Moore.
49. Setting a whole new clothing trend with Desperately Seeking Susan.
48. Her deep love for classic films.

After Madonna's bid to adopt a baby from the country was initially rejected by a lower court, the Supreme Court in the African nation of Malawi has ruled in the singer's favor on Friday (June 12). According to a Reuters report, the court overturned the earlier ruling, allowing Madonna to adopt 3-year-old Chifundo "Mercy" James.
In reading the three-judge panel's ruling, Chief Justice Lovemore Munlo said the singer's commitment to helping disadvantaged children should have been taken into account when deciding the matter. In addition to producing and narrating 2008's "I Am Because We Are," a documentary film about the orphan crisis in Malawi, the singer has founded a charity, Raising Malawi, which helps to feed, educate and provide medical care for some of Malawi's more than 1 million orphans,...

Madonna has broken her silence about her split from Guy Ritchie - revealing her gruelling tour schedule is helping her through her personal troubles.
The couple, which announced its separation last month, made its marriage break-up official on Friday, when a judge at London's High Court approved Madonna's petition for divorce on the grounds of Ritchie's "unreasonable behaviour".
Their seven-and-a-half year union will be officially dissolved in six weeks time, when they will be granted a decree absolute.
But Madonna is refusing to let the turmoil in her love life effect her hugely successful pop career.
In an interview with the Associated Press, she says her intense schedule "provides a distraction that keeps me going", adding, "I'm sad about my personal life, but I feel very blessed and very lucky that I have the opportunity to do what I do in my professional life. It would be horrible if I was just thinking about getting a divorce and had nothing to do."
In addition to wrapping up her worldwide Sticky + Sweet tour, the star is currently promoting her documentary I Am Because We Are, about the poverty stricken African nation of Malawi.
Madonna and Ritchie were rumoured to have split as early as this summer, but have kept quiet about details of their divorce despite relentless media attention.
They have agreed to share custody of son Rocco, eight, and adopted David, three, while Madonna's 12-year-old daughter Lourdes, from a previous relationship, will live with her mother.

Madonna's Africa documentary I Am Because We Are is to be turned into a photo book.
The pop superstar wrote, produced and narrated the film, about the plight of Malawian people, after recently travelling to the country where she adopted toddler David Banda in 2006.
And the project is set to receive an accompanying tome, filled with images by Kristen Ashburn, excerpts from interviews with Malawian children, and a foreword penned by Madonna herself.
In a statement about its release, it is described as a "book of images by award-winning photojournalist Kristen Ashburn - culled from her own work in Malawi and Africa over the past seven years as well as from her specially commissioned photographs for the film" which "provides an intimate look at the lives of eight Malawian children featured in the film and reveals the harsh reality of the AIDS pandemic throughout southern Africa".
Proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to Madonna's Raising Malawi charity, which collects funds to help the country's orphans.

Madonna has scrapped plans for the U.K. premiere of her documentary I Am Because We Are to be held at an English music festival, after tickets for the event failed to sell.
The Holiday hitmaker was reportedly planning to screen her latest documentary, which focuses on the plight of Malawian children, at Britain's Glastonbury festival later this month.
However, the event has struggled to shift tickets, with rapper Shawn 'Jay-z' Carter's headlining slot at the event being blamed for a decrease in demand, as the festival usually focuses on a rock-orientated line-up.
According to the Britain's Mail On Sunday newspaper, the Queen of Pop wanted to follow the screening with a possible question and answer session with festivalgoers, but has been put off by the lack of interest in this year's event.
A source tells the publication, "Madonna hoped the film could be shown on the Saturday and there was talk of a question and answer session.
"But poor ticket sales for the festival put her off. After talks with the organisers it was decided the festival was not the right venue to showcase the film."...
