As bad as it gets
lor_25 October 2019
This pair of two Pure Taboo episodes preserved on DVD, one of them mercifully short, has Bree Mills at her worst. Brimming with pride (read her hearfelt messages on the boxes) at having directed a couple of features recently she must in Trump-like fashion immediately forget she ever was responsible for crap like these two.

Both fit neatly into Bree's simplistic "Men are Bad!" signature, which reminds me of that awful ongoing ad campaign from Spectrum aimed at a competitor, which proclaims "Direct TV bad, Spectrum good!".

Running almost an hour long is the title "Detour", a ridiculous, nay insulting, vignette of two young gals Camen Caliente and Kenzie Reeves in the back seat of their ride-share, chattering about the thrill of going back-packing in Europe when they get enough cash to pay for such a trip. Their driver, Frenchman Alex Legend eavesdrops on the conversation and decides to take them home with him rather than to their destination, which the girls accept as only fake characters in dumb stories like this might do.

He shows them a big wooden case, and says he'll give them what's inside in return for sex, just the thing they'll need for their trip. We see hardly a glimpse of what it is in a blur - it's just a MacGuffin to keep the story going and never revealed or explained. Thanks, Bree.

Reeves is reluctant, but Carmen is gung ho on having sex, ultimately joined for a threesome by Kenzie, this being mindless porn. The trio go through an endless series of positions playing to the camera, turning the show into generic XXX footage. Ending to this shaggy-dog exercise is completely underwhelming.

Appended to this junker is an even worse, but only half as long junker titled "Driver's Education". Cute Aubrey Sinclair arrives for a driving lesson, dropped off with car by her mom, played by Bree's makeup lady Lisa Sloane. By coincidence, creepy Brad Knight has just been bodily thrown off campus by security guard Craven Moorehead (cameo by the director), and is in the right place at the right time to pose as a driving instructor, taking charge of unfortunate Aubrey.

Dialog is terrible, ditto Brad's acting, as he has the girl drive to a remote cul de sac where he can rape her. Aubrey makes no significant attempt to resist, and instantly turns into a sex worker with all the pornspeak cliches of "Right There!" and deep throating Brad, completely out of character but apparently what Craven and Bree assume their fans want. Without handing out a spoiler for this spoiled episode, it ends identically with another recent Bree stinker "Open House".

So we have male creeps severely mistreating young girls, and young girls behaving badly, none of it even slightly believable. Thanks, Bree.
