“I’m in the Avatar business. Period. That’s it. I’m making Avatar 2, Avatar 3, maybe Avatar 4, and I’m not going to produce other people’s movies for them. I’m not interested in taking scripts.” James Cameron said this at the Beijing International Film Festival in April and in Saturday’s New York Times. Even worse for fans of his 30-year film career, he meant it.
The writer-director-producer continued. “That all sounds I suppose a little bit restricted, but the point is I think within the Avatar landscape I can say everything I need to say that I think needs to be said, in terms of the state of the world and what I think we need to be doing about it. And doing it in an entertaining way.”

Director Simcha Jacobovici's film, The Nails of the Cross, claims nails used to crucify Christ have been found in Jerusalem tomb
From the Turin Shroud to the "Jesus towel", which will arrive at the British museum in June, there are dozens of artefacts claimed to have been part of the Biblical story of Christ. Now a new film suggests that the nails used to crucify Jesus have been found in a Jerusalem tomb.
Canadian-Israeli director Simcha Jacobovici's The Nails of the Cross is the veteran investigator's second film claiming to have discovered artefacts linked to Christ. He also directed 2007's The Lost Tomb of Jesus. But experts have poured scorn on the latest findings, suggesting that the film is little more than a publicity stunt. However, this time around, Jacobovici says he has historical and archaeological context for his claims.

- Depending on whom you believe, Jamie Foxx may or may not be writing a film version of the '70s sitcom Laverne & Shirley for director Gary Marshall and stars Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel. Yes, Jamie Foxx.
- Not to dive into celebrity in-fighting, but this improbable spat just cracks me up. Apparently a few years ago Glenn Beck called James Cameron the anti-Christ (in response to Cameron's documentary The Lost Tomb of Jesus), someone recently asked Cameron about the Fox News staple and his response is golden: "Glenn Beck is a f***ing ***hole." Beck's equally mature retort? Calling Avatar a "Smurf-murdering movie".
- Attention Browncoats, Patton Oswalt gives EW's PopWatch the skinny on the Firefly comic he's writing for Dark Horse. It's called Float Out and it'll pick up where Serenity left off, but will introduce new characters as they christen a spaceship in honor of Wash.

Los Angeles, California (X17online) - Avatar's James Cameron is firing back at Fox News host Glenn Beck for reportedly calling the director "the Antichrist." The harsh words didn't result from Avatar, but instead from 2007's The Lost Tomb of Jesus, a documentary that Cameron executive-produced. The documentary questions the Bible's account of Jesus' resurrection. When Beck was interviewing Cameron at CNN, the host began by saying, "Many people believe James Cameron officially has tossed his hat in the ring today and is officially running for Antichrist." While promoting Avatar's April 22 DVD release, Cameron had this to say about the Fox News host: "Glenn Beck is a f---ing a--hole. I've met him. He called me the Antichrist, and not about 'Avatar.' He hadn't even seen 'Avatar' yet. I don't know if he has seen it. What happened to CNN? Who is this guy? Who is this madman?...

James Cameron took every opportunity to say exactly how he felt about Fox News host Glenn Beck at a recent press conference promoting the DVD and Blu-ray release of Avatar.
There are, as you might expect, very few points of political agreement between Beck and the King of the World, but Cameron turned vicious, in part because Beck lashed out at Cameron and his 2007 documentary, The Lost Tomb of Jesus. At the time, Beck, working for CNN, said, "Many people believe James Cameron officially has tossed his hat in the ring today and is officially running for anti-Christ."
"Glenn Beck is a fucking asshole. I've met him," Cameron told reporters. "I think, you know what, he may or may not be an asshole, but he certainly is dangerous, and I'd love to have a dialogue with him."...

If remarks made at Tuesday's (March 23) junket for the "Avatar" DVD release are any indication, we just might get a James Cameron vs. Glenn Beck showdown sometime soon.
It all started when Cameron was questioned about his thoughts on Beck at the junket, to which the director fired back, "Glenn Beck is a f***ing asshole. I've met him. He called me the anti-Christ, and not about 'Avatar.' He hadn't even seen 'Avatar' yet. I don't know if he has seen it."
No official word on Beck's thoughts on "Avatar" yet (although we can guess), but the Fox news host definitely had words about Cameron's 2007 documentary, "The Lost Tomb of Jesus," back when he was on CNN. The film, which questions the resurrection of Jesus, inspired Beck's following on-air comment:

During a press conference for the "Avatar" DVD/Blu-ray, director James Cameron lashed out at Fox News personality Glenn Beck and at anyone who is not convinced of global-warming. "Glenn Beck is a f*cking a**hole," he said about Beck. "I've met him. He called me the anti-Christ and not about 'Avatar.' He hadn't even seen 'Avatar' yet. I don't know if he has seen it." Cameron was referring to Beck's comments about Cameron's 2007 documentary "The Lost Tomb of Jesus," which casts doubt on the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Beck stated: "Many people believe James Cameron officially has tossed his hat in the ring today and is officially running for anti-Christ." A bit later the director took some of his statements back, saying: "He may or may not be an a**hole, but he certainly is dangerous. He's dangerous because his ideas are poisonous." When asked about people...

Updated: Now with audio! When your last two feature films have grossed over $3 billion worldwide at the box office, you can pretty much say whatever the hell you want. And that's exactly what James Cameron did at a press junket yesterday. The Hollywood Reporter covered the junket, which was promoting the home video release of Avatar. During the junket, Cameron was asked about his feelings on Fox News pundit Glenn Beck. His response? "Glenn Beck is a fucking asshole." More quotes after the jump. Why is Glenn Beck a "fucking asshole"? According to Cameron, "I've met him. He called me the Antichrist and not about 'Avatar.' He hadn't even seen 'Avatar' yet. I don't know if he has seen it." The Antichrist remark was in response to the documentary The Lost Tomb of Jesus, on which Cameron served as Executive Producer [Update: Here's the full transcript so you can...

When conservative critics blasted James Cameron's "Avatar" for its purported anti-American, anti-capitalist worldview, the director hit back by sarcastically admitting to MTV News, "It's high-quality left swill."
Taking on Fox News host Glenn Beck on Tuesday, Cameron was considerably less jokey, calling the conservative personality a "madman" and "dangerous," among other things during a press conference to promote the April 22 DVD release of "Avatar" (which is, ironically, a Fox movie).
"Glenn Beck is a f---ing a--hole," he said, according to The Associated Press. "I've met him. He called me the Antichrist, and not about 'Avatar.' He hadn't even seen 'Avatar' yet. I don't know if he has seen it."

'He's dangerous because his ideas are poisonous,' the Avatar director told a press conference about Beck, who he also termed an 'asshole'
Rightwing Us pundit Glenn Beck once labelled James Cameron the antichrist. Yesterday, the Avatar director hit back with his own vitriolic volley at a press conference to promote the film's forthcoming DVD release, calling his nemesis an "asshole" and offering to debate with him on environmental and political issues.
Beck, a commentator for Fox News, first targeted Cameron following the film-maker's 2007 documentary The Lost Tomb of Jesus, which cast doubt on the resurrection of Jesus Christ and suggested that the ancient Tomb of the Ten Ossuaries belonged to Jesus' family. "Many people believe James Cameron officially has tossed his hat in the ring today and is officially running for antichrist," Beck told viewers at CNN, where he was working at the time.
Yesterday, Cameron returned the compliment.

"Avatar" director James Cameron lashed out at Glenn Beck at a press conference Tuesday, offering to debate the Fox News personality on environmental and political issues.
Asked what he thought about Beck during a junket appearance in support of the "Avatar" home-video release, Cameron said: "Glenn Beck is a fucking asshole. I've met him. He called me the anti-Christ and not about 'Avatar.' He hadn't even seen 'Avatar' yet. I don't know if he has seen it."
Cameron was apparently referring to Beck's reaction to his 2007 documentary, "The Lost Tomb of Jesus," which casts doubt on the resurrection of Jesus Christ and makes the case that the ancient "Tomb of the Ten Ossuaries" belonged to Jesus' family.
After blasting Beck, Cameron, surrounded by journalists inside a West Hollywood hillside mansion, seemed to reconsider: "I think, you know what, he may or may not be an asshole,...
