The episode begins in a rather unique manner as Mark finds a dead man out of the range and rides to the farm to tell his Pa. But from behind a door a man grabs Mark- Surprise! it is a long lost family member named Artemus that actually sounds more British than an old family member of a McCain.
At this point of the show even the most novice viewer will say something is amiss with this Artemus person. A person that talks like a pirate and happens to be around North Fork selling nick knacks, lights-and-sirens should have sounded. Why in the world would he be introduced right after Mark has found a dead man a few miles from the house? It just did not seem plausible.
Anyway Micah already has someone in jail that has property belonging to the dead man. So Micah is ready to go to trial on murder charges on the poor guy. But when Lucas gets suspicious about Artemus, Micah could have the wrong man.
Not much thinking for the viewer in this episode. The plot was known and the mystery figured out by the first four minutes of the show. Rather disappointing considering many ways the story could have been more entertaining with just a little creative writing.
