We Graduated High School Just to Get Disco? - Part 2
WalterKafka18 February 2024
Warning: Spoilers
There's an alternate history where Christoper George starred in Saturday Night F- you know, forget it. Let's just grit our teeth and get through this disco thing together. 'Disco isn't my scene,' Gopher says. I'm with you. However, the disco version of the theme is kind of groovy. 'Let's hustle!' Nope. I'm out. With her hair like that, Julie kind of reminds me of PJ Soles. I knew there was a reason why I liked her. Kim Darby is trying to figure out who bought her ticket. There's some great background shots here that I assume are Mexico. This episode maximizes sunset shots too. A much as I enjoy the set-bound contrivance of the majority of episodes, in these episodes the world is opened up. Eventually, the travel episodes will get too tedious. Here it's still a novelty. 'Kathy, sometimes I think if there hadn't been a Vietnam, you would have invented it.' I knew it was Kathy's fault! War is a bit heavy for this show, don't you think? We learn something about Captain Stubing in the second half here - backstory complete with pathos. Everything is managed pretty well. On Kafka's Love Boat Scale, this double-length episode gets 3 * out of a possible 4 *.
