Well done...but
sloppy_tuna9 November 2019
They should have made the vampire storyline of Suckers more light hearted and campy as opposed to the angst ridden, tragic, clueless wannabe hipster aspect they went with. The other half of the Suckers was spot on- very funny and clever with a few great twists to keep you guessing and grinning. Pairing it with the more serious tone of the other half (the vampire Suckers) made the episode feel off kilter -like watching a really funny show on Comedy Central only to have the commercial break show you abused animals that need your help while Sarah Maclachlan sings a sorrowful song in the background- it just doesn't pair well. Had both cases being investigated in Suckers had a humorous tone to them this would have been an easy 10 stars.

Suck On This.

Warning: Spoilers
The CSI's are called in to investigate a body in a pool that turns out to be a CPR dummy and then they find out a priceless sword has been stolen. Or has it...or is it? This has all the great mystery of CSI with a good dose of humor. The look on Nick's face when he trys to print the recovered sword and ends up taking a chunk of it is great. The only thing that mars this episode is the other half of it. Catherine and Warrick investigate the death of a young girl who has had all of the blood drained out of her. It turns out she is one of "the lonely ones" or a vampire wannabe. With all the vials of blood, sharp incisors, and silly names, I thought I was watching an episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer without any laughs. But back to the suckers, it's a jaunty good time that deserved it's own episode.

Sword and Sorcery

There are two cases once again. One involves the use of fraudulent Japanese artifacts to create an insurance payment. It is interesting the way Grissom and Nick work their wonders. The story works well with a really viable ending. The second is about people practicing vampirism and drinking blood. CSI seems to be attracted to these off the wall groups and their activities. In this one, a young girl is found, drained of blood. The story is quite a stretch, but it is what it is.

The Exhibition and the Blood Suckers
claudio_carvalho2 January 2023
In the Mediterranean Casino, Ty Caulfield is speaking for guests that the casino will exhibit rare Japanese antiques from the Seventeenth Century owned by Mr. Yuri Yamamoto in the casino. Out of the blue, a woman cries and they see a body floating in the pool and a live wire at the edge. Grissom, Sara and Capt. Brass investigate the case and soon they find that the body is a CPR dummy. They hear the security alarm and find the guard wrapped up in duct tape, and the samurai sword is missing. They investigate the findings and return to the exhibition room to collect other evidences but the room is empty. The head of the casino security tells that the pieces have been transported to the casino vault to be in a secure place. Soon Grissom finds the sword hidden in an air duct and questions Yamamoto why a Nineteenth Century armor was together with the other pieces Surprisingly Yamamoto say that he has no armor in his collection. They go to the vault with Ty and find that all the casino money has been stolen, in a masterstroke. But their findings do not stop. Meanwhile, Catherine and Warrick go to an abandoned house with fame of haunted and find the corpse of Angela Sommerville with two holes in her jugular vein and drained without any blood. Further, there is no gore in the crime scene. Soon they learn that Angela used acrylic fangs and her friends belonged to a vampire "coven".

"Suckers" is another great episode of "CSI" with one excellent segment, where nothing is as it seems. The discoveries that Grissom and Sara make along the story culminate with the discussion of Grissom and Ty in the end of the episode. The vampire segment is hard to believe in sick people drinking blood with all the deceases of the present days. My vote is eight.

Good fun

Warning: Spoilers
2 stories here. The boilerplate witticism from Grissom (to kick into the titles) is quite good for this time round. Sara's hairstyle needs to go away (and indeed does so before the next episode) but that doesn't stop Grissom asking for duck/duct tape

I'm not particularly bothered about the Mikado. They cleverly put in incongruous references to Japanese history that a really sharp and viewer would recognize as incorrect. This story keeps springing surprises - possibly of a con-artist nature :)

The other story is a bit of an attempted spooky vampire story, again showing the weird side of Vegas. Might work for teenagers. The eventual villain is indeed a spooky person (did I recognize one of the serial murderers from season 4 episode one in this programme?) Another CSI cliché: lots of gorgeous people dancing around in PVC to bad music in a weird fetish club.

What I call the "science-is-cool music" scene - another CSI regular - consists of Nick using some highly improbable software to reconstruct somebody's face from a CCTV still.

Not bad at all, but not one of the best episodes.

They really ran out of ideas by Season 4
interestingstuff16 January 2022
You can tell that the show's writers used most of their good ideas in the first 3 seasons and by the time they got to the 4th season, they didn't have any good ideas left so they started to recycle old clichés and this is where the show's quality starts dropping drastically which will only get worse season after season.

Also this is another episode where they "solve" both cases not through analysis of evidence but through massive leaps of logic and imagination while trying to reach conclusions that aren't really there. It's entertaining to watch but insults viewers' intelligence.
