Developers have access to an array of video game engines that help power their projects. Some studios stick to their own proprietary engines, such as CD Projekt Red’s REDengine and Capcom’s Re Engine, but other studios use more widely available digital toolboxes to create games. For years, one of the most popular and influential game engines has been the Unreal Engine.
The Unreal Engine was originally developed by Epic Games for its 1998 Fps Unreal. The toolset has since been through several iterations that all demonstrate an uncanny ability to power almost every video game genre imaginable and also deliver top-notch graphics. The Unreal Engine is just as at home in shooters such as BioShock and Gears of War as it is in RPGs like Dragon Quest XI and The Last Remnant.

Mere seconds into the first episode, “Happy!” almost earns the exclamation point in its title. As Nick Sax (Christopher Meloni), a disgraced ex-cop with booze running through his veins, stares into a dirty barroom mirror, he pulls two pistols from his pockets and blows the back of his head off.
That’s a good thing — using the weird logic of the scene — considering how much blood was being kept at bay by the top of Sax’s skull. A flood of red sprays from his open cranium like water bursting from busted fire hydrant, and Sax’s joyfully exuberant reaction is mirrored by the new environment around him. As his innards paint the ceiling, a bunch of half-naked dancers twirl around the lobotomized cop to an electro-tinged version of “Jingle Bells.”
It is Christmas time, after all.

Don’t women already have enough to think about in their lives?
Based off the short film “Piece A’ Cake,” “Audrey is a funny female-drive comedy that takes us in real-time over an hour and half of a young woman’s day as she waits and waits and waits in a restaurant for a man to arrive for their critical third date. As time ticks away and Gene is nowhere to be found, Audrey is swept up through her life as her insecurities and inner demons wreak havoc on her. Forced to face her deepest fears by circumstance — both real and hilariously unreal —Audrey finds the strength and courage she never imagined she had.
The film stars Sybil Darrow (“The Cavern,” “The Sweetest Thing”), Ed Quinn (“The Caller,” “ True Blood”), Charles Shaughnessy (“The Nanny,” “Days Of Our Lives”), Jonathan Chase (“Tyler Perry’s A Madea Christmas,” “Eagle Eye”), Helena Mattsson (“Seven Psychopaths,...

Many years ago the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup folks had an awesome ad campaign that went like this:
"Hey. you got your peanut butter in my chocolate!" "Hey, you got your chocolate in my peanut butter!" "You're both right! It's two great tastes that taste great together!" The main reason I remember this ancient TV commercial is because I see a lot of horror movies. And I find myself thinking "Hey, you got your Alien in my Silent Hill!" or something similarly silly. I mention all of this nonsense because of a goofy new horror thriller called Evidence, which I'd describe thusly: "Hey, you got your found footage horror film in my boring cop story!" "Hey, you got your boring cop story in my..." You get the point. Rare is the film that feels more like two small movies wedged together, but that's precisely what Evidence is. Wholly familiar, entirely predictable,...

As technology changes and gets more advanced, so does the way administrative officials use it. People like to think that Big Brother is out there using infrared lights and security cameras, but they don.t realize that our cell phones are no less intrusive, and aren.t necessarily guaranteed to remain private property. Say you recorded a crime. That.s the gist of the story behind Bold Films. thrillerEvidence, which Variety reports Image Entertainment has picked up the U.S. rights for. Evidence is directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi, whose last features were 2009.s sci-fi mockumentary The Fourth Kind and 2005.s extremely low-budget horror The Cavern. In Evidence, Stephen Moyer (True Blood) and Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill) both play detectives investigating a massacre involving bus passengers at an abandoned gas station. The titular evidence comes from the various recording devices found at the scene, which the detectives must pore over in...

Another indie feature film to look out for in the next year or so... Writer/director Olu Odebunmi and the rest of his production team successfully raised over $40,000 to go towards production of his feature film, a thriler titled Mzungu, which explores an American traveler’s unexpected nightmare while vacationing in Africa - specifically Kenya. Of course, the American is white, hence the title, which is, in short, Swahili for "white man." Olu will direct from a script penned by Tolu Awosika, with Olatunde Osunsanmi (director of genre fare like The Fourth Kind for Universal Pictures starring Milla Jovovich, and The Cavern) will exec...

The Marvel Comics character of Ghost Rider has always been more than a little alternative. Considerably darker and more haunted that contemporaries like Spider-Man and the Hulk, the demonic creation of trio Roy Thomas, Gary Friedrich and Mike Ploog found himself starring in more horror-centric stories, only ocassionally clashing with sunnier heroes in sales-boosting stunts. While the comic creation existed on the fringe of the industry, Mark Steven Johnson's 2007 adaptation "Ghost Rider" was a far more generic, populist attempt to appeal to the masses. It was, by design, a pop song, except it viewed itself as a catchier Massive Attack track when it was more of an O-Town b-side. Bring the kiddies. Fortunately, the decision to spring for a new creative tream led to "Ghost Rider: Spirit Of Vengeance," which, in intention and execution, is pure metal. Within Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor's film is the spirit of industrial guitars crashing against each.

There was a time when the name Leisure Books was synonymous with horror novels. When it came to mass market paperbacks, Leisure ruled the horror world. Authors like Ed Lee, Craig Spector, Brian Keene, Richard Laymon, Graham Masterton, Jack Ketchum, and even Stephen King have published with Leisure, which was owned by Dorchester Publishing.
Under other lines Dorchester publishes romance, thrillers, westerns - you name it. However, in 2009 things began to go sideways at Dorchester. Within months the company as it was known was gone: sales and editorial staff fired, reports of shipments to stores and authors delayed, creditors piling up along with unpaid royalties to authors.
In mid-2010 Brian Keene (pictured right; Ghoul, The Rising, Urban Gothic) forged a deal with the company for the return of all publishing rights to his work in return for the forgiveness of all money owed to him by Dorchester. This was the...

With The Fourth Kind (starring Milla Jovovich, Elias Koteas and Will Patton) hitting theaters today, many people will be wondering what to make of the supernatural thriller. Well, here’s as much as the creators are willing to spill on the film …

In October 2004, filmmaker Olatunde Osunsanmi had wrapped principal photography on his

For decades now, we’ve wrestled with the controversial and frightening mystery of alien abductions. We’ve debated until we’re blue in the face about the concept of life outside of planet Earth. The one facet of this entire scientific, cultural and philosophical circus that remains arguably missing is that of solid, undeniable proof. This “missing link” so to speak, is what The Fourth Kind attempts to be in the hearts and minds of it’s viewers. Unfortunately, the film fails on almost every level, leaving the audience potentially more skeptical and cynical than they were upon entering the theater.
The Fourth Kind was written and directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi (WithIN) and is presented as a sort of part archival footage, part reenactment presentation of first-hand accounts of the strange and unexplained occurrences that have allegedly plagued the remote, far northern town of Nome, Alaska. The director himself inserts...

The holiday season starts early this weekend, as Disney unspools Robert Zemeckis' 3D animated feature "A Christmas Carol."
The industry dates the holiday boxoffice season from the weekend before Thanksgiving, but Disney executives believe the PG-rated "Carol" will play strongly well past Turkey Day. Zemeckis' success with his first animated holiday outing -- 2004's "The Polar Express," a $305 million worldwide grosser for Warner Bros. -- has helped Disney rally exhibitor support for his latest seasonal venture, Disney distribution president Chuck Viane said.
"The exhibitors have been looking at Bob Zemeckis' track record, and they're saying, 'I have to have this,' " Viane said. "It's not just a kids movie. It should be a four-quadrant picture for everybody."
"Carol" will play on a mix of 2D and 3D screens and is set for 3,700 theaters overall. The Jim Carrey-toplined release boasts about 2,050 3D screens, including 181 Imax auditoriums.

Milla Jovovich in The Fourth Kind
Photo: Universal Pictures I saw The Fourth Kind last night and while I'm not allowed to review it until this coming Friday, I did want to talk about it a little bit beforehand and share with you what little information I know.
I hadn't watched a trailer before going into the film so my only knowledge was that it was about alien abduction in some form or another. I have since watched the trailer (watch it to the right) and the footage of Milla Jovovich explaining what you are about to watch is included at the front of the film and extended. Jovovich portrays psychologist Dr. Abigail Tyler and the film includes what is said to be "actual video footage" featuring Tyler's sessions with patients she places under hypnosis to help them remember things their minds have forced them to forget.

Arriving in theaters november 6th from Universal Pictures is Olatunde Osunsanmi's The Fourth Kind, a fact-based thriller involving an ongoing unsolved mystery in Alaska where one town has seen an extraordinary number of unexplained disappearances during the past 40 years and there are accusations of a federal cover up not unlike the claims directed at the circumstances surrounding the infamous Area 51. In October 2004, filmmaker Olatunde Osunsanmi had wrapped principal photography on his thriller The Cavern and traveled to North Carolina for postproduction. While there, a chance dinner conversation sparked an interest that would be the genesis of The Fourth Kind. More Starring genre fav Milla Jovovich, beyond the break you can take a peak at two exclusive TV Spots that feature creepy new footage.

"The Fourth Kind" trailer is in. The Universal Pictures release stars Milla Jovovich, Elias Koteas, Will Patton, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Corey Johnson, Enzo Cilenti, Alisha Seaton, Daphne Alexander and Tyne Rafaeli. Olatunde Osunsanmi ("WIthIN") directs the film and writes the screenplay alongside Terry Lee Robbins. Catch this hair-raising, fact-based film in theatres on November 6th. In 1972, a scale of measurement was established for alien encounters. When a UFO is sighted, it is called an encounter of the first kind. When evidence is collected, it is known as an encounter of the second kind. When contact is made with extraterrestrials, it is the third kind. The next level, abduction, is the fourth kind. This encounter has been the most difficult to document...until now.

I've always felt that alien abduction movies can be extremely terrifying if done well, although I must admit, it's been a few years since Fire in the Sky first scared the crap out of me. This particular genre of horror flick seems to have died along with The X-Files in the late '90s and I'm not quite sure why. I guess we've been too busy worrying about zombie plagues and home invasions to concern ourselves with little green men as well. At any rate, Olatunde Osunsanmi's The Fourth Kind looks like it could bring back alien abductions in a big way, and personally I'm all for it. The movie stars Milla Jovovich as a psychotherapist who interviews abductees in Nome, Alaska. This is another one of these horror movies that vaguely claims to be based on a true story, although there doesn't seem to be any strong evidence of that fact.
