Emma Roberts star vehicle
SnoopyStyle18 July 2015
Addie Singer (Emma Roberts) is facing the constant embarrassment of life with her friends boy crazy Geena Fabiano, sincere Zack Carter-Schwartz, her dog Nancy and her guitar. The show starts at 7th grade in Rocky Road Middle School. She has a crush on Jake Behari and dates Randy Klein. She is harassed by nemesis mean girls Maris and Cranberry. The friends hang out at a juice bar where her older brother Ben starts working at. The show ends after 3 years as the friends leave 8th grade.

It's a cute kids TV show. It's a good star vehicle for Emma Roberts. It's high on silly like Roberts' sing songs. Each episode starts with the ending as Addie is in some kind of wacky trouble and she recounts how she got there. The friends are great. The dream boy is a bit of a dud but it's cool that the foursome is ethnically diverse. It's a sweet show that relies heavily on the ample natural charisma of Roberts and it's a good innocent show for tween girls.

Why is everyone being so picky?
tereranisharma25 November 2006
Shows on Nick are made to have fun, not so they would really show you the life of teenagers in Middle School. For god sakes, don't pick on every little thing you see wrong with the show. It's about three friends and about their ups and downs at school. I'm not saying that I completely love the show, because some episodes weren't that good, but I'm not saying I don't like it either.

Again, Nick has shows that are just made for fun. Ned's Declassified School Survival Guide, Zoey 101, Unfabulous, & Drake and Josh are for those people who want to have fun watching a show about a imaginary place. If it showed really was middle school was like.. well then it'd be boring and uncreative.

cute, funny, good clothes
proud_dancer_freek3428 January 2007
Emma Roberts is actually a very good singer. She just sounds bad for the show.

Anyway, I like this show. It portrays a realistic view of middle school, but it is stretched just enough for Nickelodeon viewers to get some laughs out of it. The characters aren't "deep" of anything, but that's why it's good. Addie - the main character, has to go through the trials and tribulations of middle school. I am in middle school, and I really do thing this show portrays it in a realistic and funny way. Plus the clothes that Addie wears are very cute. I also like how the plot isn't confusing at all, and you get all the characters - the popular older brother you have to look up to, the cooler than you best friend, the cute popular guy, the, well, guyish guy best friend, and, of course the embarrassing parents. This show is much better than some other shows out there like Drake and Josh. The jokes in the show are cute, the episodes are easy to follow, and Addie is a talented, yet so unfabulous 13 year old girl.

Its cool
vzdeadman13 June 2005
This show is pretty cool, Its just like Lizzie Mcguire without the whole preppy-blonde thing. Teenagers can really relate to this show because Addie Singer goes though pretty much the same stuff teenagers go through at school(teachers, parents..etc). Also, I watched this show before I knew the lead role was played by a girl related to Julia Roberts, so kplz people, chill.

All of the characters fit and the people who play them are really good at acting. I don't think you should watch it constantly and call it crap later, get a life kthnx.

This show has this new singing thing that I haven't seen on many teen-comedies. She can sing like a NORMAL teen, She's not supposed to be some rock-star. What they're trying to show is that she can sing out her feelings and be happy with herself, singing's one of the good things she has.

Pathetic
rosannamariastead26 June 2006
Warning: Spoilers
OMG! I am so surprised looking at so many of these reviews, this is a totally predictable show with absolutely no potential to be anything more that a kids TV show. Yes I am aware that it is just a TV kids show but what self-respecting actor ever made it big after a kids show? the plot lines are unrealistic and give young teenagers false hope that you will get the boy you want and everything will turn out OK at the end of it. And also, that girl may be related to Julia Roberts but it is obvious that the acting gene has not passed itself down to Miss Emma, and sorry to say it, but she can't sing a tune either. I'm giving it a 3/10 and the only reason it gets a 3 is because it seems to entertain some kids, however, it is poorly acted, not funny, badly written and over the top. Its totally pathetic!

Great Great show
nshine5 January 2008
Warning: Spoilers
you know, I actually really like this show.

This is what the show is about, a thirteen year old girl named Addie Singer starts middle school with only her two best friends, Zach and Geena. She has a mom, a dad, and an annoying older brother and a dog. she starts off the series by having a crush on Jake Behari, the ultimate popular, hot guy. She finds out soon though that Jake doesn't like her like that, so she decides to date Randy Klein, even though she doesn't like him. But Jake ends up liking her too in the third season. It's a pretty good show but I have a few issues with it. 1) Addie is so completely selfish, it's not even funny. In the third season, when Zach and Genna got together, she didn't even care! It was just all about her! And whenever somebody in her family is having a problem, she doesn't care, she only cares about her! It's completely annoying. 2) Addie is so clumsy and dramatic. It annoys me a lot. if you watch the show, she falls down a lot or does other embarrassing things. And when Jake told her that he loved her in the third season, she was all mad off at him! That's something else that annoys me about this show. Other than those two things, this is a great show for middle school girls who are trying to find themselves. I don't think older people will like it, but girls in middle school definitely will. I recommend it.

Addie Singer is a normal teenager. No one's ever thought of that plot before.
Birstyjr29 August 2006
Warning: Spoilers
Fabulous-fab·u·lous adj. Extremely pleasing or successful. Unfabulous is an antonym for this word. Why was it chosen for this Nickelodeon television show? A publicity tactic? Wordplay? Maybe an accidental typo that passed? The reason becomes obvious within twelve seconds of Addie Singer's spontaneous guitar notes, original lyrics to her life's events and a voice unlike any other. Addie Singer is played by Emma Roberts who's claim to fame was being the little niece of Julia Roberts and the daughter of Eric Roberts. My theory on genetics in the Roberts family is that talent seems to skip a generation so maybe Emma's children will have a shot at the big time. This show goes for the "average teenager" angle in hopes to target an audience. A failed tactic. Addie Singer lives the television definition of normal teenage life. A nice two story house in a middle class neighborhood, two parents who have no thought of divorce, a family dog, an annoying older brother, popular girls who are obsessed with makeup and fashion that can always be brought down by the average kids taking a stand, the popular guy that she's had a crush on since elementary school that barely notices her existence because she's too nervous to talk to him and Nickelodeon has added a guitar. Another failed tactic. Addie refuses to settle for ordinary and wants to be as unique as possible though several episodes along with the running plot line are based on Addie wanting to be like everyone else. I believe that's an example of irony. Addie has two main best friends, a smart guy named Zach and a best gal-pal named Geena. How very Lizzie Maguire-esquire. Her older brother is named Ben who often quotes how much he wishes he could be like Addie. Once he even went as far as to say to his girlfriend that he wished he could play the guitar as well as his little sister. I've heard one-legged dogs play the guitar better than Addie Singer. They sing better too. Addie's time can be divided into three main categories. School where she constantly hides behind the safety of her friends. Juice which is a place where teenagers "hang out" and what a surprise, drink juice. Sounds more like preschool without coloring books. Home where she writes her songs about flushing her dead pet goldfish, wishing she was a Mexican wrestler and in her own words "tossing her cookies on a yellow bus." Frankly watching this show made me want to toss my cookies.

loves it!

Warning: Spoilers
Unfabulous is so good. This is such a great show I love it. Emma Roberts makes a great job as Addie Singer. Teens can totally like relate to this show. This show is one of the best nickelodeon shows and I'm glad its on its 3rd season.

The show its about Addie Singer living her totally normal teenage life, she faces problems that every teenager does with the help of her friends Geena and Zack and her family Ben Mr. Singer and Mrs. Singer. She faces school problems popularity problems and love problems like every other teenager I've been watching this show since its first season. I so recommend it!.

I thinks its way better than Zoey 101 because its more realistic. Because is about a teenager living her teenage life. Not about some girl in a boarding school! I give it a 10/10!

Omg none of them can act!!!!!!!
Death-Walk3 March 2006
Warning: Spoilers
The summary pretty much spells out some of my feelings on this show. None of them can act their way out of bags, they may as well have their scripts while filming (it may even be better...). Jeez, the show's rubbish...Addie practically stalks Jake Bahairi or whatever his name is. In this one episode, she loses her CD of 50 something songs about her love for Jake. It gets into Jake's CD player and she grabs it and breaks it!! Then Jake hand's the CD to her and says that it was very nice but he was seeing someone! Now when will that happen in real life? If someone did that to me, about the CD I wouldn't say something lie "ARGH! YOU BROKE MY CD PLAYER AND YOU'RE STALKING ME STAY AWAY YOU FREAK!" but I'd be really angry if someone yanked my CD player and smashed it.

I mean if the acting is alright but the story lines and authenticity of the show is so unbelievably terrible you just want to scream, or vice versa, I can't enjoy it.

I give it a 1 because there is no vote for a negative fifty million.

Unfabulous rocks my flip flops!
Mick_molly28 May 2005
I saw the very first episode of Unfabulous, and I got hooked!!! It is way better than Lizzie McGuire ever hoped or dreamed to be! On a scale of one to ten, I would give it a nine. It's about a seventh grade girl who goes through life trying to fit in but learns life lessons along the way. She soon realizes that if she ignores the popular kids in school she will be much more happy and she will maybe someday become popular. She sings songs and hopes that someday she will become rich and famous for her clever, well-thought out songs. Her mom is a realistate saleswoman, her dad is a little obsessive, and her brother is perfect. I give this show five stars.

What has this world come to?
SuperNewb26 September 2006
From the point I saw it advertised, I had a feeling that this was going to be another Nick flop. Boy, was I right. Now, I did not want to watch it, it looked stupid and pointless. Unfortunately, my neighbor has a tendency to ignore child abuse laws (even though she is one herself), and made me sit through three painful episodes over Comcast. First off, the acting is absolutely terrible. Emma Roberts can't act her way out of a plastic bag, and seems to find herself amusing by putting on the fakest of facial expressions. She says her lines like a robot. In fact, I believe that basically everyone on the show is that bad. Pathetic, really. Second off, the girls are apparently very sweet, welcome everyone, and hate the popular folk. However, they are just as nasty and cruel as Maris and Cranberry. Very hypocritical. The show is cheesy, basically lives off of teenybopper romance, and uses good-looking actors instead of those with real skill. Lord, save us. This is child abuse.

Great show!!
scarfyblue31 July 2007
Im 17 years old and I love this show! Its probably one of the best shows on TV for young teens at the moment! The new series has just started on British TV and I cant wait to see more of it! The acting is good for the age of the cast and the plot is quite easy to relate to if you're a young teenage girl. It deals with the problems that girls have to experience- boys, school, friendship and family. It also contains all the necessary ingredients for a great show: A strong lead, 2 supporting best friends, 2 mean bullies, the hot older brother and crushes for the lead part. I prefer it to Zoey 101. The plot is a little more believable. Basically, Its a great show and well worth checking out!!!

Horrible!!
gaio_blade25 April 2007
Warning: Spoilers
Good Lord this show is AWFUL!!! The entire storyline is how an unpopular (and rightfully so) teenage girl stalks a guy for about 20 minutes of the episode, stutters in front of him, then runs away from him embarrassed. In the meantime her gigolo of a best friend goes around dating boys in 10th or 11th grade, while she's in (what I believe to be) 8th. Also, the entire time she thinks of her "worst enemies" getting annihilated or embarrassed in ways no person would be. Speaking of which, what high schoolers would go around yelling "BURRRRRRRN!!!" all the time? Makes no sense. Finally, Addie's singing is horrendous! I understand she isn't supposed to be the next American Idol, but if you can't sing, don't try to! The only reason she has her own show is because she wanted to be like Auntie Julia, end of story.

Again, as with my Naked Brother's Band comment, I gave this show a chance. Saw about 5 episodes, and gave it up. So there.

My Review!
megamileyfan1 February 2009
I loved Unfabulous! I wish that I could still watch it but it is not airing any more on Nickelodean which is a real bummer to me. This show is funny, has great actors and actresses, and teens can really relate to what Addie and her friends go through. I wish that I could watch it again cause I totally would! I think that this show is really good for both Teen boys and girls. Emma Roberts who plays Addie Singer is an amazing actress. People can really relate to the same mistakes that Addie makes in the Show. This show has a lesson with it that many people wouldn't think about. The message is, that even if you make mistakes in life, just go on with your self and laugh about it later.

an embarrassment
MilkyFresh5 June 2007
This show is terrible. An absolute disgrace for a TV series. If i could i would have given it 0 but unfortunately thats not possible so I'm gonna stick to as low as i can :P

This show is based around a girl who tries to decipher life and all that rubbish. Don't get me wrong, i've watched a fair number of these kind of teenager series, but this one is a disgrace. Besides the absolute rubbish that it displays and I'm referring to the 'lessons' it teaches, the acting is absolutely shocking, the storyline wants to make u cry and the worst is the main character's obsessive singing. plain and simple - she is sh*t. She cannot sing to save her dog's damn life (although if i were her dog i'd probably want to kill myself anyway, so thats a pretty poor argument).

This show is also centered around this girl's 'love' for this one guy, and every damn episode is about it and every song she 'writes' is about him. I'm embarrassed to say that i've even watched an episode and am disgraced that it is playing in my country. Maybe i should send a letter to MNET and request its removal.

okay.

Warning: Spoilers
I think Unfabulous is okay. It's certainly a good start for Emma Roberts' acting career. Her singing is somewhat annoying but I admit,I like her voice. Her friends are also great actors. The bad part about this show is it's unrealistic. It's not like people can just think of songs automatically in their heads although I'm not exactly a guitarist or a singer. Also most episodes can be predictable like when the principle was saying all the things Addie and her friends were looking forward to were canceled. When Gina asked about Spring Fling and the Ski Trip and the principle said the were all canceled right after was really predictable.Besides, it's not like the principle would cancel all their events just because of last year. There are also those girls Maris and Cranberry.I hate them so much!Seriously, they need to get their own lives and not spend it everyday on making one girl's life miserable. But each episode has a good moral at the end and a happy ending. My overall rating 6/10.

Unfabulous alright.
webhead17316 June 2006
I thought I'd give the show a chance. I give almost every show a chance. I've seen a few episodes and they are terrible. Why is that one boy always hanging out with those two girls? Does he have any friends that are boys? I've never seen a boy do that in real life, which makes this show fake. The acting is bad. It's so fake. The show covers the same things every other teen show covers, only this one isn't good. It's never funny. I haven't even smiled during a part. When something in the show happens that's sad, it's not sad. It's fake and dumb.

I don't like it. Sometimes I think I'll hate a show but when I watch it I end up liking it. But this one isn't like that.

2/10.

I like Unfabulous!
mamacornbread624 July 2006
I think Unfabulous is a really great show. It's about a girl in middle school named Addie Singer who is trying to basically find herself and grow up. She uses her close friends Gina and Zach, her family, and her music to learn about herself.

I think this is a really great show but only if you can relate to it. It is meant for 11-14 year old girls. I can relate to the episodes and the problems that occur, therefore I love to watch it. It's also a really great show to watch because of the eye candy; some of the boys are really cute, like Randy Klein and Jake Bahari.

Many people complain about the acting and the singing in the show. If it is your first time watching the show or you have watched every episode yet you say you hate the show (why do you keep watching it?), you have to realize that these are young actors. Emma Roberts hasn't been in the business for 30 years so give her a break. She also is playing a young girl who doesn't have a perfect voice so stop complaining, all of you haters. Half of us can't act as well as her or even sing as well as her.

Unfabulous is being compared to a lot of other teen shows but most of the events that happen in the show can be related to, even if they are exaggerated. IT'S A TELEVISION SHOW! And this whole thing about Unfabulous putting down Catholic school, anything about Catholic school maybe happened two or three times total during both seasons. It's not even that serious. No one was intentionally putting down the schools, unless you read really really deep into it.

It's not the best show in the entire world, and Nick used to have a lot of really good shows. But Nickelodeon has to provide for another, younger generation of kids so if you are older than about 14, you probably don't/shouldn't watch the show.

I don't really care about it
kellyhof_42218 June 2007
Warning: Spoilers
it is not so bad, but i rather watch something else. They act so great and fashionable with their hand made (Geena made it herself) clothes, but actually i saw Geena's clothes on another T.V. show! I absolutely think this show is a waste of time. It is your average show that you watch and don't really care if it gets canceled. The movie was weird because she followed her crush all the way to Chinatown (that is so creepy)! Come on would you want that to happen to you? Also she picked up his cell phone from the trash can (Ew!). anyways think what you want to think, this is just my opinion. Addie's songs are funny (because they are weird). She sings about her being 13...."I'm 13 yeah 13 years old. I don't have to do what I'm told." It is so unoriginal because she is a singer and her last name is singer. also the weird thing is Zac's basketball shorts are so tiny they look disgusting on a boy and what kind of last name is Fabiano?! They act like such wanna be's. The good thing about it is that i like one episode, the crazy one where she was hunting down her C.D. about Jake. I like it because she acts crazy and she breaks his C.D. player.

I started to like the show when Zack and Ellie started going out!
GotzMoneyHoney28 March 2007
I like Emma Roberts but for me the show wasn't that great, i thought the main girl acted OK but it wasn't good enough to carry an entire show. I have always loved Zack though and when he started getting more play because of his new girlfriend I fell in love. The whole Ellie crush added more dynamic to the show. Plus, i think they both acted really well!! They actually looked really good together. It made you forget it was a show because it seemed as though they could have been really going out. Ellie was cute yet sassy. Zack was totally goofy but thats what made it great. The contrast was nice. It is sad to hear this is the show's last season. How about a spin off for Zack and Ellie in high school? It would be a shame not to see more of Ellie. I really liked her. When you find someone who is pretty and can act, you should hold on to her because it is rare!

hated it
jhayeshs18 March 2008
I hated this show since the very beginning of it's creation. I seriously don't know what this show could possible be nominated for. Every episode is so cheesy, this show resembles Zoey 101 a bit because there both very cheesy show. Zoey 101 was actually funny though. Every single episode is so boring. It's just lame joke after lame joke. This show has so much potential to be a great show and funny. Emma Roberts is funny, but who're all the other characters? They're bad at acting and have very little sense of humor. Maybe if they had a laugh track I would've changed my rating to 3/10 but it still would've sucked. I give this show a terrible 2/10 and don't waste your time watching this show, it'll take away your sense of humor, too.

It's not Shakespeare, it's FUN!
churchactor13 January 2005
I like UNFABULOUS! I don't know what some are expecting, but I think it's fun. It's a light hearted situation comedy, (that doesn't mean it's supposed to be funny all the time). Little, young girls like boy's, (a fact of life). What may be "cute" to some is not always, to another. The show proves opposites can be great friends! But they are still TEENS...TEENS are "Flacky" & that means a TEEN show may come off "Flacky" at times. I like Emma Roberts, (Addie Singer), and some of the other characters are good and will probably be seen later in shows such as "O.C." / "The Mountain" & "Gilmore Girls." (some are already doing MOVIES!!! These kids have TALENT! (face it!). Take the show for what it is... Bewitched & Gilligans Island were master pieces, I know, but UNFABULOUS will not raise kids to be murderers or drug attics...It's a fun show to watch on Sunday night!

This is a great show
rentonno118 August 2005
I think this is a great show, and it's a million times better than Zoey 101. It's about an average 13 year old and gives you tips on how to cope with everyday life. My favourite character is Gina because I think her clothes are so cool! I also think Ben is so hot. Addie's cool as well though because she writes her own songs and plays her own music. I think her mum's hilarious. I've watched every episode on Nickelodeon, and every one of them has been great. I really hope there will be another series. All the people on this website who say this show is stupid and they think Zoey is better, must have something seriously wrong with them. At least the acting in Unfabulous is great, unlike Zoey 101. Emma Roberts is the best! Anyone who doesn't agree, feel free to add me on msn: rentonno1@hotmail.co.uk

I thought this was an excellent show. If you have spare time and this show is on, you should definitely watch it. I think the characters play the parts very well and you can relate the characters and plots to your own life. It was very funny and quirky. A lot of people think this show is stupid and that Emma only got the part because of her Aunt but she has talent, otherwise she wouldn't be on the show!! I kind of admire her, she is just like me, I play guitar, sing and act. So I would definitely like to meet her, we probably have things in common. But in conclusion, I would just like to say, please watch the show. The first season just ended and they are showing reruns so you still have time to catch up. Please watch this, it is an AWESOME show!!! Love, Peace, and Chicken Grease!!! I'M OUT!!!

Nothing new here.
aleusong7 October 2004
Just caught an episode of this last week. I was led to believe it was a musical series were the main character Addie, does a lot of singing. Then I realized that a TV series where people would sing all the time can get old really quick. That's what happened to TNBC's All About Us.

Anyway, Addie is a very confident singer. Whether or not she's bad is based on whether or not you think all girls who reached puberty are supposed to be good singers.

But there's really not a lot of singing at all. You just get like a minute of it per episode. The only original thing about Unfabulous is that each episode starts out with a problem and the rest of the episode is a flashback leading up to that problem and then there's a solution in the end.

I dunno if this is worth watching all the time. Eventually, Unfabulous will be crammed into that pile of many preteen shows that follow that basic teen girl formula: a girl with one best girl friend and one best guy friend (note that one of these friends has to be other than white), a sibling of the opposite sex, stereotypical classmates, and multiracial teachers that are young and hip and other elements we know by heart from watching too much TeenNick and ZoogDisney.

Feel free to give this a few episodes, but if you don't like the Lizzie McGuire formula, be warned of what this show is capable of wearing out into.
