Familiar porn romance, with a switch
lor_23 February 2018
An early (pre-Wicked) Jessica Drake vehicle for Sin City, "The Boss" concerns her infatuation as a secretary with her boss, Evan Stone (her real-life lover). It's old-hat plotting, but given panache with a more realistic twist ending than is customary in Adult Cinema.

Jim Enright directed, though in a curious aspect of the DVD generation his screen credit as "Christian Knight" is contradicted by the BTS short subject where we see him in action, even identifying himself as he gives a Hitchcock-type intro to the movie. IMDb insisted on crediting the movie to a Gay porn actor "Christian Night", a blunder I'm trying to fix.

In the final reel Drake finally gets to seduce her boss, but what happens at fadeout certainly surprised me, and makes the film worthwhile. An interesting supporting femme cast keeps the heat on throughout, not merely such reliable stars as Taylor St. Claire and Lezley Zen, but also a bombastic stripper named L.A. LaMann (who is interviewed usefully in the Bonus section), Nina Ferrari and pretty Summer Haze. Enright maintains a good balance between concise explicit sex scenes and the soap opera plot.
