Terrific, effortless Dorcel classic
lor_26 November 2016
The more I watch older Marc Dorcel titles from a couple of decades ago the more I realize his importance in Adult Cinema history, even though in recent years his output has become mainly routine. This sexual fantasy set at the time of the millennium Y2K is a superb example of how his label's glamorous, direct approach was so successful and stands the test of time.

Released by Wicked Pictures in America, it is a real-time story of David Perry's chance encounter on New Year's Eve with a mysterious blonde bombshell played by Meridiane. She's terrific, and unjustly forgotten, a player who did not become a big name but is highly distinctive in the never-ending sweepstakes to become the next "Marilyn".

With the clock running, Perry, who is actually a rather timid character, attends parties and orgies, but it is this fantasy woman who dominates his (and the viewer's) thoughts. Dorcel's large cast includes many beauties, notably Lou Valmont, a naturally top-heavy icon whose best showcase was in Dorcel's comedy "Q Spot", also highly recommended.

Beyond the luxurious settings and stylings, there's a piquant quality to "Midnight" that captivated me, much like the best of the Adam & Eve fantasy releases of the era. I am clearly attracted to the Romance/Couples genre of Adult Cinema, and hope that it will make a comeback (and soon) amidst the dross of generic gonzo junk.
