If you have a friend who often boasts ‘I love spicy food; I can eat anything’ (or something to that effect) then take them to Red Dog Saloon to set them straight!
Last Thursday I went with Adam James (our other food commentator who waxed lyrical about The Camden Blues Bar last November) to take on a challenge that since December has been separating the men from the boys – and women from girls; faming and shaming all those who undertake it with Polaroid snaps displayed forever behind their bar on the wall of fame/shame.
The challenge: consume 6 chicken wings in 10 minutes then last for 5 minutes after consuming the final bite without any liquids or solids. Sound simple? Well bear in mind that each wing is smothered in a sauce made from Fresh Naga Viper chillies: a chilli 2,500 times stronger than a Jalapeno.

From inside and out, Red Dog Saloon looks exactly like what it purports to be, a Saloon. Completely decorated with chipped wood panelling adorned with bull skulls, road signs and other paraphernalia from the South of the ol’ Us of A, the façade is what you might expect to find in a diner on a dusty road in the middle of nowhere-usa.
In a place like this beer seems like the appropriate drink and they carry a great selection of American beers including Sam Adams, Anchor Steam, Dixie, Goose Island and Brooklyn East Ipa, all reasonably priced at under £5; great value for an imported beer.
Equally good value is their margarita. Served short, they have the perfect amount of alcohol and fall between sweet and sour. Frozen or straight up, they do a mean margarita. And if you’re taking it soft they offer the obligatory milkshake and may be...

Producer Johnny Lin has reworked production company Filmula with a mandate to finance two to four movies annually and has greenlighted "Tweakers Delight," a drama directed by Emir Kusturica with a $35 million budget.
Filmula also said that international rights to "Hesher," its Natalie Portman starrer that premiered this year at Sundance, have been acquired by Nu Image in a seven-figure deal. The title will be changed in international markets to "Rebel." Domestic rights already have been sold to Newmarket for a fall release.
Filmula, which recently changed its name from Dreamagine, was founded in 2008 as the producing partner of CatchPlay, a division of Via Technologies and Studio Solutions Group. Filmula has offices in Los Angeles and Taiwan.
CatchPlay is perhaps the biggest movie distributor in Taiwan and other parts of Asia. Last year, it released 45 theatricals and more than 100 direct-to-dvd titles, handling films from Relativity Media and Lionsgate, among others.

International presales used to be the panacea par excellence for the always ailing indie film business. But during the past few years, the cure no longer worked, sending many struggling indies into a coma if not straight to the morgue.
Suddenly, there are signs of recuperation: Numerous film sellers report a pleasant surprise after the recent European Film Market in Berlin. Presales are back ... sort of.
Richard Rionda Del Castro, chairman of West Hollywood-based foreign seller Hannibal Pictures, was among those who experienced better-than-anticipated results, especially for the police thriller "Son of No One," starring Al Pacino and Channing Tatum.
Although prices paid by foreign-territory buyers remain "30% to 40% lower than two years ago," says Del Castro, his company was able to close deals covering much of Western Europe, Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and Latin America.
"I could see an improvement compared to the past two years," he says. "I would say...

Gary Oldman, Malin Akerman ("Watchmen," "Couples Retreat") and Milo Ventimiglia ("Pathology," TV's "Heroes") will star in the $9 million indie gangster feature "Criminal Empire for Dummys" for Cold Fusion, Sleeping Giant, Gremi Productions and Hollywood Studios International says Variety.
Ventimiglia plays a charismatic young guy who went from a tragic childhood living in the ghetto to his current position as the head of a large multi-national organised crime syndicate. In flashback throughout the film he relates the do's and don'ts of maintaining a criminal empire. Michael Clarke Duncan and Harvey Keitel also star.
Cliff Dorfman, a staff writer on "Entourage" who also penned the upcoming Tom Hardy film "Warrior", will make his feature directorial debut on the film from his own script.
Michael Roban, Dave Brown, Greg Hadjarowicz and Paul Schiff will produce. Shooting kicks off late March in New Orleans.

Avatar keeps winning, it fell just a smidge under 18 percent to take its fifth crown in a row. The film had the lowest drop-off among the top 25 and it's crossed the $1.6b worldwide cume threshold. James Cameron even made a cameo on SNL this weekend. I'm pretty sure he could get Spider-Man: The Baby Years greenlit if he felt like it. #1 movie predicted correctly: 12 Week In A Row 1. Avatar It looks as though alert commenter Jm was closest with a call of $40.9m.
What can Avatar do next? Cold Fusion? If they win The Golden Globe for Best Drama tonight the route could be on come March. Result: 41.3 million (My rank: #1, $3.8m off) 2. The Book of Eli Athar's $32m prediction looks very nice right about now. The Book of Eli outperformed most analyst's expectations, but they still have plenty of work to do. That $80m production budget looms. Result: 31.6 million...
