MRS. HARRIS' CAVITY is among the most frivolous, and entertaining (for the connoisseur of quickies), porn films. The anonymous filmmakers merely assembled an all-star cast and let their talented thesps go.
Given the ebullient personalities and energy of stars like Candy Samples, Sandy Dempsey and Keith Erickson, CAVITY is a winner despite its sloppy, artless technique. For once the "who cares?" approach works.
Samples is well-cast as sweater girl (woman) Mrs. Harris, visiting dentist Erickson on an emergency with an extreme toothache. She's averse to shots, so he gives her laughing gas, and then imbibes some of it along with his cute dental hygienist Suzanne Fields.
The resulting threesome of Harris and the two "professionals" as she sits in the dental chair is mainly shot in one continuous take, with only a master shot, very little in the way of closeups. This is poor filmmaking, but the trio's brio carries the scene, especially Erickson's non-stop verbal nonsense, even doing a Tokyo Rose imitation using the gas nozzle as his prop microphone.
In the waiting room, patient Ric Lutze and fill-in receptionist Eve Orlon hear & peek at the shenanigans, and have sex on the shag rug. It's not an in-joke but plays as one when Ric starts giggling -his usual state, after we've listened for a couple of reels to the trio inside giggling out of control due to the gas.
After his money shot on Candy's chest, Erickson calls it a day, and he, Fields and receptionist Sandy Dempsey hop into Sandy's Cadillac convertible and trek to the dentist's home. They frolic in the pool, happy and carefree as kids. At this point the viewer wonders whether these hard-working porn performers were really being paid to have fun, or if indeed having sex in front of the camera constituted just a job. Given their very low pay scales I suspect that they enjoyed their livelihood.
After the gals have a lesbian shower, the film climaxes with another threesome on the bed, hurt by some very sloppy editing during Keith's copious money shot, evidencing perhaps a lack of experience for the behind-the-camera staff.
Film has been resurrected under the namby-pamby title "Mrs. Harrison", on Vol. 200 of Something Weird's Dragon Art Theatre series.
Kudos to the entire cast, and trivia note of Fields sporting a buns-at-ears odd hairstyle which is far removed from her FLESH GORDON look but rather presages almost exactly Carrie Fisher's styling as Princess Leia in STAR WARS. I'm glad to see that George Lucas' viewing habits extended to keeping up with porn films.
