A rare and fun Kinji Fukasaku's item.

Rare and short, folks, only 53 minutes, and not a really entire crime film, as we could expect from him at this time. I admit Fukasaku really began the crime topics during the seventies, not the sixties, not yet. It is a little mystery and comedy drama, shot in black and white, in LBX frame, handled with a pretty good jazzy music score and an overall noir atmosphere with Tokyo by night. It speaks of two friends more or less involved with some gangsters who abducted a scientist. Some fun and light sequences, as often in Japanese films, and a rather good directing. Don't expect a dark and bleak tale. You won't be surprised if I say that's not the best Fukasaku ever even with, I repeat, a good direction with also good settings, especially near the end, in the islands.
