Alpha Blue Archives has a nice new program resuscitating some porn westerns plus a fourth feature (only recently added to IMDb) named THE HUNTER. BOX CANYON is quite similar to yet one more obscure, recently added to IMDb title - GOLD OR BUSTS.
It's not an uprising but rather a simple gun battle over women that the film concerns. Four whores are traveling by wagon to service the gold miners at the title canyon, almost an identical plot line to the BUSTS movie mentioned above. The busts here belong to Nora Wieternik, Sandy Dempsey, Andy Bellamy and an unfamiliar actress, while GOLD starred Maria Arnold and others.
The bandits capture the girls and sort of rape them (such matters are pretty nebulous when it comes to sex performers portraying prostitutes), and poor Sandy gets tortured as well. Torture seems to have been a staple of both soft-core and hardcore porn Westerns, with the natural opportunity to tie women up and/or whip them.
Poor Nora gets choked to death. The heroes rescue our girls (minus Nora) and one hero bears an anachronistic sailor's tattoo on his arm. Of course, if this Western were remade, all the girls would likely have real tattoos given the current porn talent pool.
These actresses (at least the 3 recognizable ones) also starred in SKY PILOT, another ABA rediscovery, and I thought one of the heroes here looked like the actor who played Harry Potter (yes, that was his name) in that film. Movie ends with the outlaws being hanged, frontier justice Like other films of its ilk, it benefits from extensive location photography, far more interesting than the claustrophobic studio/motel room interiors of most early porn.
