Joe Sarno at his worst
lor_15 September 2023
I was surprised to discover yet another stinker shot by Joe Sarno for Vidway during his 1980s XXX video era -this one adds another to his endless list of fake names: "Mort Harmon".

It has all the hallmarks of Sarno during this period; the same lousy sets; same lousy music blaring in nearly every video; blown takes left in the final print; shots of actresses just walking down the sidewalk (in this case somewhere in New York's Outer Boroughs) as connective footage between studio-bound sex scenes; outrageously dumb -on purpose- dialogue to set up the ludicrous stories; and even the same angles used over & over in the sex scenes.

Story makes that camp classic of the '70s (one of my favorites when it was reduced to drive-in showings) 'The Betsy" about the auto industry look like an Oscar-winner. Stephanie Rage and Aja star as rivals for an important new car design -the vehicle is named The Ucker. That's because Rage is playing Shirley S. Ucker, and she stole the design from Aja's boyfriend and then supposedly killed him. Both of them have high-powered lawyers, a miscast -on purpose - Bunny Bleu for Rage and Michael Knight for Aja. Of course the two warring beauties eventually forge a merger in time for their lesbian sex scene.

Adding to the attempted comedy is a miserable Groucho Marx impression by Rick Savage playing a judge, with the trial stage on a blackout set out of vaudeville meets TV sketch. A couple of extras, likely crew members, are unbelievably bad, one as a court bailiff and the other reciting the comedy's climax revelation (which I won't spoil here) a scene so badly directed that when the cast just stands there, apparently forgetting their lines, it's all left in the movie anyway.

Big stars like Rage and Aja are embarrassed and embarrassing, and Bunny appears with her natural breasts before her exaggerated augmentation surgery.
