Dumbed-down porn
lor_8 November 2023
Not one of Roy Karch's finest hours, "The Roll-X Girls" is another example of the high-concept concept applied to porn, just as it has been applied to the production of so many mediocre mainstream movies. Karch's screenplay begins (and ends) with the idea of a gang of glamorous girls who seduce marks in order to drug them and steal their Roll-X watches. Nothing else happens.

The germ of a storyline has Christine Robbins as a lovely TV news anchor who decides to go undercover (she was formerly an investigative reporter) to do an expose of the gang, but that goes nowhere -she just has sex with Peter North alongside one of the thieves (Kimi Gee. Styled here with bleached hair and a non-ethnic look) and then reports it on TV as a throwaway. Aja is leader of the gang and the movie is merely vignettes of them humping their victims, including prolific cameraman Barry Wood in an acting role billing himself as Shane Hunter.

Version of the movie I watched was a 77-minute reissue released in 2015 (25 years after original VHS release) by a label called Fu*k Cuts Productions, not exactly a porno household name outfit.
