It is Asian Heritage Month in Canada, and few characters are more iconic than Janet Kim from “Kim’s Convenience” (2016). In this widely-watched TV show, Andrea Bang spins Janet as a headstrong, single 20-some year old who brings her Korean Canadian family together. After the show’s sudden shut-down last year, Bang re-emerges in feature form with director Renuka Jeyapalan (also from “Kim’s Convenience”). “Stay the Night” marks the duo’s re-entry into the film world, and not without applause. The film premiered in SXSW and more recently screened at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival.
Here, Bang plays Grace, a stubbornly introverted corporate employee. Her roommate Joni (Humberly Gonzalez), however, is anything but. So when Joni kicks out Grace for (yet another) spontaneous hook-up, Grace finds herself looking for a retreat. She resorts to what any desperate urban, young woman would do in her shoes: find a one-night stand.

Jana Kramer's Dancing With the Stars journey has come to an end, but what an "amazing journey" it was. The actress-singer and professional dance partner Gleb Savchenko were eliminated on night one of the season 23 finale. Their tango to "Stay the Night" by Zedd feat. Hayley Williams netted a 35 out of 40 and their freestyle number to Sia's "Unstoppable" got 36 out of 40 from the four judges. "We did so many amazing dances, I shared so many awesome stories and hopefully reached a lot of people out there and inspired them. And I have a great partner, so I'm happy. It's awesome," Jana told E! News after her elimination. Jana and Gleb went into the finals a little under the...

Nobody’s really been clamoring about Zedd‘s Coachella 2016 set the way they have about Flume or Zhu’s, but he’s put together something that could have fooled us anyways. The German DJ/producer has revealed a recap video for Coachella that highlights moments from his performance as well as those of the festival as a whole.
The recap video opens with footage from Zedd’s tour bus as the Coachella date approaches. Crowd and aerial shots of the festival itself build up to clips from his actual peformance, during which pyrotechnics displays streak upwards against a backdrop of meters-wide Led panels.
As engaging as the video may be, the song choice is somewhat telling of the state of his career. Even though he’s released a new version of “True Colors” that features his latest high-profile collaborator, Ke$ha, the videographers opted instead to use “Stay The Night” from his 2013 debut album,...

Though the radio can't seem to stop playing German DJ Zedd's mainstream breakout hit song "Clarity" featuring Foxes, he's already wowing listeners with his next big debut.
"Stay the Night," with lead vocals by Paramore's singer Hayley Williams, is another melodic Edm song with powerful verses and a dancefloor-ready beat.
The music video, which debuted on Monday (Sept. 23), perfectly encapsulates the message of the song. The video is a highly choreographed dance telling the story of a couple on the brink of a breakup, deciding whether or not to spend the night together despite their issues.

Back at the beginning of July in the daily Briefs, I started the Official snicks Top 100 Lost Hits of The 80's, spotlighting the 100 greatest minor hits of that decade. The songs you don't hear on any 80's nostalgia show. Songs that missed the top ten, or top twenty ... or top forty, and over the last five months I hope some of these forgotten gems may have rung a long dormant bell, or for younger readers, provided a pop music history lesson.
Here is the complete list, including my favorite lost song of the decade. Thank you for taking this 80's road trip with me ... but it's not over yet! I'll be featuring a new Lost Hit once a week in the Wednesday Briefs, so the history lesson will continue!

The business of rock -- the creative juices, the vibe, the sound and fury, the rage, the excitement, the whole kit and caboodle -- is very lacking these days. Songs come and go, like cotton candy -- looks good, tastes good, but leaves no lasting impression other than a disgusting sugary aftertaste. Few can scale the heights and maintain the majesty of Rawk! One would be hard-pressed to find young rock bands today with the chops and creativity to sustain four to five decades of arena-sized music-making like the Stones, Kiss, Tom Petty, The Boss, AC/DC, Eagles, The Who, U2. I would argue there is perhaps just one band excellent enough to carry that very heavy torch and to wave it high and wide -- Green Day. Formed in Berkley in 1987, they are well on their way: this year marks their 25th anniversary in the music biz.

James Blunt's mother worries about his music. The "Stay the Night" hitmaker admits he receives regular calls from his mum to express her concern at the melancholy tone of some of his lyrics, despite him reassuring her he enjoys venting his emotions through song.
"My mum worries about my music," he said. "She says, 'James, why are you so sad? What did I do wrong?' But, in a sense I write songs about things I am probably bad at expressing in life. I actually enjoy the great racking of the heart."
Though James' mother worries about his serious lyrics, he insists he always tries to feature an element of light-heartedness into his songs.
Speaking about his new album "Some Kind of Trouble", he added, "At the same time, you've got to have a bit of shallow in there. Otherwise, the perception and the person are going in different directions and something will break.

James Blunt is "glad" he isn't in the army any longer. The British singer/songwriter was an officer in the Life Guards, a Cavalry regiment of the British Army, but left in 2002 to pursue his music career and says he is happy not to be on service anymore because he doesn't support the British military's current involvement in Afghanistan.
"I'm glad I'm not in the Army now, as I wouldn't feel any great conviction for the way the war in Afghanistan is being approached by politicians," he said. "We need to look after our troops and equip them as best we can."
Despite not supporting the decision to post troops into the Middle Eastern country, James plans to visit frontline troops in December to show them his support. He also addressed media criticism of him as being labeled "posh", saying that nobody ever treated him differently to anyone else when he was in the army.
