Plot Summary

In this "remake" of Recruit with a child (1955) we have Miguel Cañete, a rustic villager from the town of Viñuela. To his disgust, Miguel is called to military service by the San Fernando Navy, and must go to the ranks without remission, since he exhausted all possible extensions. The problem is that he has no one to leave Quique, his little brother. He commits to Jacinta, a countrywoman, simply so that she can take care of Quique in exchange for the promise to marry her when he finishes the service. But Quique feels very bad among those people and escapes from stowaway on the train in which his brother travels. When they arrive in San Fernando, the only thing that happens to Miguel is to leave Quique at the house of the only person in the family who lives there: Aunt Enriqueta, who now rubs shoulders with "important people" and what he least wishes It is having two "villagers" coming and going to your home. Under the threat of betraying his origins, Miguel manages to leave Quique at the aunt's house, then returning to the Specialist Training Center of the Navy. There he is the object of the jokes of his companions, and as if that were not enough, he was arrested one weekend after another by Sergeant Canales, known among the recruits as "El Tigre de San Fernando". Days go by and Quique, who misses her brother, is not at ease with Aunt Enriqueta, so she leaves the house and shows up directly at the barracks, where she is discovered neither more nor less than by Sergeant Canales. The sergeant gives Miguel one day to find a place to leave his brother, and, after much searching Miguel finds a very cozy house, where Julia, a beautiful blind girl, and Rosario, his mother, live, which they agree to stay with the boy. But - guess who is Julia's father and Rosario's husband ...? Written by Miguel Ángel Díaz González

Quotes Miguel Cañete Moste: If you allow me to, I would like to remain in the Navy.
Sargento Canales, el padre de Julia: You?
Miguel Cañete Moste: Yes, sir. Or, can't I be good at it?
Sargento Canales, el padre de Julia: That's the same question I asked myself twenty-two years ago.
