Trivia | The song "Mi amigo" ("My Friend") was especially composed for the movie, based on a poem by Rafael de León. It was to be performed by Rocío Dúrcal in the movie, but the scene featuring the song, which talked about a woman reproaching her husband for his infidelities, was cut off from the movie, as the song, despite having really subtle lyrics, was deemed too immoral by the Catholic Franco regime, where adultery was legally a crime and could entail penalties of prison. Only the first seconds of the instrumental opening of the song can be heard, then the movie abruptly cuts to the applause of the audience after the never seen performance. Nevertheless, the song still appears in the credits and it was included in the album soundtrack. It quickly became a classic of the Copla music genre and one of Rocío Dúrcal's most successful songs, being covered by hundreds of artists, like Rocío Jurado among others. See more » |
