Reasonably good episode continues plot development of 'Penumbra'
16 October 2023
Sisko grapples with a disturbing message from the profits.

The plot regarding Sisko gets slightly better as the drama created by the Prophet involvement is more interesting than the tedious wedding plans that came before, however some of it feels a bit forced for the sake of it. Sisko could have timed a certain discussion until after he had made his mind up and the secrecy of the Phrophet's motivations feels frustratingly pointless.

Worf and Ezri have more contrived scenes of antagonism that feel repetitive and like a soap opera at times, but the involvement of the Breen does eventually get to somewhere intriguing by the end.

Easily the most compelling plot thread involves Dukat and Winn. These are two solid baddies coming together for dastardly dealings and it works well. The performances of Marc Alaimo and Louise Fletcher lift the material significantly.

It is another necessary episode to watch for continuity and the foundations for the conclusion feel like they are being laid.

It is a 6.5/10 for me but I round upwards.
