The Rival Sorority Houses
16 September 2022
When the popular Patty Goodwin (Morgan Brittany) and her beloved, but outcast stepsister Sarah Goodwin (Kay Lenz) join the university, they drive to the dormitory of the campus first to pledge sororities later. They apply to the famous Alpha Nu Sigm, where their mother stayed in her academic life, but only Patty is accepted. Sarah needs to go to the unpopular Phi Epsilon Delta house that accepted her, and the two sisters are split. Sarah immediately befriends the shy musician Alberta "Mouse" (Tisa Farrow) and has an interview with the notorious "mother" Mrs. Erica Hunter (Shelley Winters). Then, she gets close to the young assistant professor Paul Yates (Tony Bill) that tells that Mrs. Hunter has an obscure past and used to dedicate to the occultism. Further, the rivalry between the two sorority houses is not recent and he advises her to leave the Phi Epsilon Delta. Meanwhile, the cruel leader of Alpha Nu Sigm Jennifer Lawrence (Morgan Fairchild) tries to separate Patty and Sarah, provoking a reaction from Sarah. Soon Mrs. Hunter learns that Sarah has powerful telekinetic and psychic abilities when she is angry, and decides to use her power to destroy Alpha Nu Sigm sorority.

"The Initiation of Sarah" is a 1978 supernatural film for television and the storyline is a rip-off "Carrie" (1976). Sarah and Carrie are outcast and have telekinetic and psychic abilities. Both are based on American traditions of proms and initiation to sorority houses, where many teen slashers and comedies from the 70's, 80's and 90's happen. "The Initiation of Sarah" follows the usual clichés of the genre, but is reasonable and worthwhile watching. My vote is six.
