Boring recurring characters in Season 8
13 April 2022
Warning: Spoilers
These characters introduced in Season 8 aren't clicking. This Benny character feels so odd and out of place. I can't stand the fake, forced Southern Cowboy drawl that the actor is putting on. My ears bleed anytime he opens his mouth. And he has the charisma and personality of a snail. There's a reason why I've never seen or heard of this actor on anything other than this series. Also, his hat is stupid! Lol Finally, he has ZERO chemistry with Dean, who is so charismatic he could have chemistry with a rock. So that means this Benny guy is less charismatic than a rock. Then there's Sam's weird flashback of his romantic subplot with Amelia, played by another bland new actor. I shouldn't be surprised by any of this as around Season 8 of this show would be the early 2010s when there started to be a noticeable drop in the quality of TV (and movies for that matter) across the board. And the fact that Supernatural was on the CW just made things worse as this network just decided it was going to veer into cringe territory in the early 2010s and it's been stuck there ever since. The writing and acting in the early seasons of this show was top notch that it's disappointing that I'm getting to the point of bland recurring and guest characters played by bargain basement actors, repetitive writing, and probably a bunch of preachy storytelling.
