When the assistant of Senator Melinda Batson, Kristen Marley, is found dead, the initial question of the forensic technician and CBI agents is whether she committed suicide or was pushed from a bridge. Bur soon Patrick Jane finds evidence that she was pushed to look like a suicide. Lisbon and Patrick interview the senator and learns that there is a rumor that her husband Elliot Batson was having an affair with Kristen. The lead suspect becomes Kristen's stepbrother Harlan McAdoo, who is a smalltime criminal while Patrick believes is someone from Melinda's family. The janitor helps Patrick and Lisbon to solve the case.
"The Scarlet Letter" is another good episode of "The Mentalist", with a plot with many twists. The unexpected and ironical conclusion is a plus of this show. My vote is eight.
