Nothing Works-Not Worthwhile

100% Nonsense. Why such huge stars would associate themselves with this film after reading what had to be the most mindless script ever really baffles me. Julia is cute as ever but she's given awful lines to deliver while prancing around the most inane situations. I felt bad watching her try to bring some levity to this morose endeavor. I cannot stress how unimaginative and dense the dialogue is here. And the story was promising but didn't deliver any emotion or laughs. Nobody acts or talks this way and that's why this feels so fake and idiotic. Gere is an annoying creepy stalker who somehow endears himself to the entire town. Huh? No, not ever. Not remotely credible. He's a judgement buffoon smirking his way from scene to scene while prying into Julia's personal affairs. He's given the worst lines of all in this clunker. He's a loathe some creature not just because of the role but how he plays it. No chemistry between them whatsoever. It's barely watchable. Cliched doo doo. Supporting cast is equally moronic and don't remotely endear themselves in any manner. In fact sometimes they're downright nasty to Julia and she just shrugs it off. The bakery lady was particularly grating. The love story unfolds in predictable fashion. If you get halfway through this irritating intelligence insulting unfunny disasterpiece sham of a stinkfest you should get a trophy or prize of some sort. Cringe after eye roll after cringe. Base humor poorly done. Nobody knew what they were doing here from the beginning and it progressively got worse and worse to the point of ridiculous absurdity. The worst kind of movie. Worst! Very distracting soundtrack with either obvious songs or very dull songs. It's a lifeless farce.
