It's becoming clear that this season is doing something entirely different with its main villain. After it was rumored over the summer that Richard Dragon is going to be the big bad, he made an unmemorable appearance last week and completely missing from this week's episode, it doesn't seem like the show is going in that direction. Or at least, they haven't fully committed yet. To me, it looks like they are either going to not have a prototypical big bad or they are going to have a team of big bads for the season. I have found myself become increasingly more intrigued with the idea of having a team than I thought I would be. Cayden James is an annoying and out of place villain for this show, I highly doubt they would go the route of having Black Siren be the main villain, Vigilante comes and goes, and god knows Dragon hasn't made an impression yet. What if they are all under the command of a bigger threat/working together?
As far as this episode goes, we saw the return of Oliver as the Green Arrow and the beginning of the end for Diggle as a costumed hero, or so it seems. He had another setback this week after Curtis' drug didn't do the trick and he's on the verge of having permanent nerve damage. I love Diggle, but I don't think any of us would be hugely disappointed if we went back to being the eyes and ears from inside the cave and gave up his life of being a full blown hero. This all contributed to the solid heart to heart between Ollie and Diggle as their egos collided.
On a different note, Ollie was arrested for being the Green Arrow as this storyline continues to drag on because we all care a lot about Agent Watson taking Oliver down in that regard. Doesn't anybody even care about this anymore? Is Watson somehow behind all of these criminals? Why is she so head over heels on taking him down when the team has clearly done more good than bad? I guess like it or not, this storyline doesn't seem to be going anywhere any time soon.
The other big thing that happened was the sudden awakening from Thea in the hospital. How exactly did this happen the same episode where Ollie pleaded for her to wake up? I don't know. However, I feel like there have been quite a few shots from either outside the hospital or outside the various apartments, that make it seem like there's someone watching Oliver's every move. Not that we haven't seen something like that happen to Oliver before, but it doesn't seem unintentional. So in all, Team Arrow didn't have a great Thanksgiving, aside from Thea waking up, but I think there's plenty more good to come in the next few weeks. Crossover!
