Gidget (Sally Field) is at odds with her English teacher Mr. Donald Hardy (character actor and later director Noam Pitlik). He seems to hold her to a higher standard since her father is English Professor Russell Lawrence (Don Porter), his former teacher. To test him, she turns in her outdoor observation assignment with the paper her father wrote on the subject 30 years earlier. Unfortunately, Mr. Hardy has remembered the composition. Now Gidget must find a way to face the problem.
