Gidget has a fussy English teacher called Mr. Hardy (Noam Pitlik), alias "ha ha Hardy," who seems to be picking on her since her dad's an English professor.
It all starts when Gidge can't define a "dangling participle." The inside joke here is the series episode, along with many others, frequently used dangling participles for comedy purposes.
Gidge concludes she's being singled out and is a victim of circumstances!
She protests to her dad and Professor Lawrence says Mr. Hardy just doing his job as a good teacher. That all said ... to see how good of a teacher "ha ha Hardy" really is, Gidge pulls a clever switch-a-rooney and copies a paper her dad wrote about "outdoor observations" when he was a student, a story he also read to his own class when Hardy was one of his pupils. But that was a long time ago, right?
Wrong.
Mr. Hardy recognizes the forgery. One hilarious question: After all these years Hardy actually remembered it? Amazing.
Still a good story, especially to see Gidge figure out how to win over a not so cool teacher. Noam Pitlik, popular on such tv shows as HOGANS HEROES, later became a director of such hits as BARNEY MILLER.
Look for pretty Ronne Troup as one of Gidget's classmates, who at the time was playing Polly on MY THREE SONS. Ronne was the daughter of singer Julie London and songwriter Bobby Troup.
Written by the famous husband and wife team of Austin and Irma Kalish, known for such shows as MY FAVORITE MARTIAN and FAMILY AFFAIR, later ALL IN THE FAMILY.
Dedicated to all of our well meaning English teachers. SEASON 1 EPISODE 7 remastered Columbia color dvd box set.
