Review of Trick Baby

Trick Baby (2000 Video)
Early Jessica vehicle is downbeat
20 June 2017
Jessica Drake is an Adult Cinema immortal thanks to her lengthy career under contract with Wicked Pictures, but before that tenure she was a quality performer at Adam & Eve, Simon Wolf and Sin City. This early effort made by Nic Cramer is insubstantial, breaking with convention but still unsuccessful.

That's because Nic's thumbing his nose at porn's self-censorship rule eschewing violence (many videos proclaim themselves as "non-violent entertainment" in order to curtail attempts at censorship) comes off as mere gimmick rather than novelty or impactful content.

It's the saga of a college girl by day/hooker by night (to pay those hefty higher education bills), on of the corny plot lines out there. Attempt to give this some depth by a sort of fate as she takes after her whore of a mom falls flat, just another gimmick to justify a wimpy "shock" ending.

So we watch Jessica as Angie service guys at hefty call-girl level fees, beginning with a mean-spirited Evan Stone, who browbeats the kid while trying to maintain his erection and shoot his load. The nasty tone of this opening scene sets the stage for what Cramer thought was a serious drama, but I doubt fans will buy into that.

Gwen Summers is delightful as always as another college kid up to no good in the sack, but the other supporting femmes are unimpressive - hardly top talent. Jennifer Andersson, billed here laughingly as "Jennifer Loch Ness", is a refugee from the sex/action films of the redoubtable Swedish pornographer Mike Beck, a most unlikely casting. I dig Beck's obscure (here in the States where they were very poorly distributed) features, and was taken aback by her participation in a random Sin City release.
