I have seen both versions of this movie the original with vivien leigh and this with Rachel weitz and I must admit I found the original much better. the story about the love of an older lady and a younger man during the 1950's not as open or accepted as nowadays. I found the problem with this movie was it felt so stagey and at the same time it lacked the passion of the original. I found Rachel Weitz giving a sleepwalking performance yet I have seen her in many other movies but here she was just not with it. Most of the cast seemed so morose and bored it was for me a hard movie to watch though there was one improvement upon the original and that was the love interest as the actor in this version was lively and believable unlike the actor in the original who actually looked older than the character in the play is to be. I will say I was disappointed because this movie could have been a wonderful experience but instead was so boring.
