The Homesman (2014)

Slow paced? maybe,.. but worth your time.

This cast speaks for itself, but a great cast doesn't guarantee a great film, we know this. For me, the pace of the film was just right due to the nature of the plot and the distance they had to travel and the transport they had. The film needed to be slow paced to give the viewer an idea of the enormity of what laid ahead of them. Swank and Jones were chalk and cheese which is not an uncommon trait with the protagonists, as this adds to the character building and the relationship you, as the viewer, has when watching their relationship develop and blossom. Some scenes may of been a little vulgar or unnecessary, but it all added to the realism of living in that particular time and again, added to the feel of the film which was at times, dark and moody, but also had aspects of endearment, passion and showing the good in humankind. The twist you have two thirds of the way through the film was excellent and left you wondering why?? Although their were small snippets of the film i didn't care for and didn't think were necessary, it was 2 hours of my life well spent and compelled me enough to write a review, so it must of worth it!!
