Review of An Education

The story is based on Lynn Barber's memoir. An Education is set in the 60s and London's suburbs where a teenage girl, bound to follow the proper school education, leads her life outside of her 'path' for a while. An older man and his cheerful and intelligent company allows her to live part of her dreams but also to face the consequences of her decisions.

Carey Mulligan's performance was fresh and Alfred Molina's -who plays the father- great. I must say, i didn't enjoy very much Peter Sarsgaard (the playboy) in this film. He didn't seem to pull off very well the English accent. Another actor was needed for that part, in my opinion. Dominic Cooper and Rosamund Pike make a nice weird little supporting couple here.

There's also a very good set of locations, mostly in England's famous round-abouts but in Paris, France too. One thing you can't complain at all, is the music. Jazz is in the air and mixes quiet well with the atmosphere.

Reminded me a bit of Mona Lisa Smile, as far as the moral teachings concerns and the pressure that young women had to go through those years. So, it's not something that you've never seen but it is an interesting story to watch.
