Night Watch (2004)

Truly bad
9 January 2006
Went quite a long way to see this film. Was I impressed? No. Of the five other people who entered with us, four of them walked out about 20 minutes into the film. Why? Bad acting, truly bad script, bad plot... the list goes on. Not only is the whole idea of good guys versus bad guys (how can you mess that up?) so poorly implemented its laughable, the production staff seemed to have spent more time making the subtitles change colour and swish in and out than actually making a good film. As for the filmography, the director seemingly went for gritty but got sweaty and snotty instead. I cannot believe I actually paid five pounds to see this gibberish. Even something like Ghosts of Mars (which ain't no gem) is light years ahead in terms of entertainment, and thats saying something. I can only advise you that, on the basis of this film, avoid Russian cinema like the plague.
