a long and delightful movie for the entire family
3 October 2005
The best way to describe this film is that the producers and director took the time to do it right. They avoid too many side plots which detract from the main story: a boy and his horse. The only exception is the redemptive power of Black in the life of Henry, played by Roony.

Many of the most exquisite portions of the film are those with no dialog at all. The camera work and cinematography are fantastic. The audience is absolutely pulled into the events as the movie flows along.

A word of caution - watch the movie with patience. They don't rush through the telling of this story. In fact, it often seems that silence, time and emptiness have been cast. The mixture is magical.

Kelly Reno - who seems to have never played another significant role in his career - is superb. It is our loss that he was never cast for more roles.

Roony, too, is wonderful. He is so natural he seems to be playing himself. A class act all the way.
