After numerous delays, Well Go USA’s Cut Throat City is finally making its debut — and in theaters. Yes, you heard that right. The RZA-directed crime drama will make its way into select theaters starting today as they slowly start to open their doors across the country.
“Well Go is a supporter of the traditional theatrical window and when we initially read the script a couple years ago we truly envisioned Cut Throat City as a wide theatrical release,” said Doris Pfardrescher, President & CEO, Well Go USA. “It is a socially relevant film that we feel needs to be seen on the big screen. We also want to help support the cinemas as best we can in bringing life back to their business.”
She added, “Obviously, safety is an important part of reopening but we do feel that the cinemas are taking every precaution to make us all and the environment feel safe.

The film release calendar has always played home to serendipitous programming choices, from movies with strangely similar titles hitting at the same time to features that seem ripped from the same script (as with the infamous 1998 double whammy of “Deep Impact” and “Armageddon”), but this week at the movies offers something with a twist: two new movies with not just closely aligned plots, but nearly identical praise. Two is a trend!
Just yesterday, IndieWire’s review of “Chemical Hearts” arrived with the headline, “Lili Reinhart and Austin Abrams Shine in a Ya Romance for Extra Sensitive Teens,” and that exact phrasing could be used for the week’s other big screen Ya adaptation, Thor Freudenthal’s “Words on Bathroom Walls.” Or, in simpler terms, think of it this way: “Charlie Plummer and Taylor Russell Shine in a Ya Romance for Extra Sensitive Teens.” Both films are based on popular Ya...

The 1999 Drew Barrymore romcom “Never Been Kissed” is referenced multiple times in “Words on Bathroom Walls,” with the older film cast in a rosy Proustian glow that may come as a jolt to any viewers who remember the 20th century. Fully 21st-century teens Adam (Charlie Plummer) and Maya (Taylor Russell) describe it as a “classic” and a “cinematic masterpiece” with equal parts affection and irony, believing themselves a little smarter than its cozy high-school movie clichés. So does “Words on Bathroom Walls,” in ways that sometimes pay off strikingly.
A teen movie for the generation of mental health awareness, this slick, well-acted adaptation of Julia Walton’s popular Ya novel complicates typical coming-of-age stakes and obstacles with the disorienting realities of the hero’s diagnosed schizophrenia, giving unusual, anxious treatment to the genre’s standard set pieces — from dreamy prom night to rousing graduation speech — along the way.

Lobo Sebastian Cast In ‘The Mule & ‘Words On Bathroom Walls’; Martha Kelly Joins ‘Corporate Animals’
Lobo Sebastian (USA’s Queen of the South) has landed a role in Clint Eastwood’s Warner Bros film, The Mule, which Eastwood will direct and star in along with Bradley Cooper. Eastwood plays Earl Stone, a man in his 80s who is broke, alone, and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive—easy enough but, unbeknownst to Earl, he’s just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel, and also hit the radar of hard-charging DEA agent Colin Bates. The piece was inspired by Leo Sharp’s story, though the plot of the film is fictional. Eastwood will also produce the pic under his Malpaso shingle, along with along with Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas from Imperative Entertainment. In addition, Sebastian was cast in Words On Bathroom Walls, the Ya drama adapted from Julia Walton’s...

Nc is open for filming, after a confusing few years.
Currently, North Carolina can celebrate the Oscar wins for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and the forthcoming theatrical release of Sundance hit American Animals, a Kentucky-set story directed by British director Bart Layton that was mostly shot near Charlotte, including at Davidson College.
These two films coincidentally both have British production companies – Blueprint Pictures and Raw, respectively, and Film4 backs both features. They are a clear signal to both Us and international producers that Nc is open for filming, after a confusing few years.
