Songs about the working class are woven throughout the fabric of country music. Unfortunately, some of the more recent ones do nothing more than pander to an already marginalized demographic. Thank goodness for Elvie Shane, then. The Kentucky songwriter’s new single “Forgotten Man” cuts through the buzzword bullshit of freedom, cold ones, and American dreams to get right to the heart of what it means to be blue-collar in 2023.
“Gas is getting too damn high and land is too/Can’t get your hands on an acre that ain’t handed down to you,...

Aside from maybe cold beer and hot wings, or blue jeans and work boots, few things pair as well together as a distorted riff and a sneering lyric. Elvie Shane knows this and wisely uses the one-two punch to announce his new single. Remember the first time you heard Eric Church’s “How ‘Bout You”? “County Roads” hits like that.
As a gnarly, fuzzed-out riff from studio session ace Tom Bukovac fades, Shane — a Kentucky boy who races muscle cars and got turned onto music at a Baptist revival — shares...

Kip Moore is living to the fullest in his new song “Good Life,” his first new music since the deluxe version of his 2020 album Wild World.
“Good Life” marks a slight sonic departure for Moore, who worked with producer and co-writer Jay Joyce (Eric Church, Ashley McBryde) for the first time in his career. Some of Joyce’s more experimental rock-leaning influence is evident as Moore’s effects-laden vocals cruise along to a funky backbeat and sizzling lead guitar. “I’ve been crucified by a Baptist preacher/been face to...

So, How Was Your 2020? is a series in which our favorite entertainers answer our questionnaire about the music, culture and memorable moments that shaped their year. We’ll be rolling these pieces out throughout December.
Kip Moore typically spends a big portion of any year on tour, so in 2020 he had to make adjustments and learn to sit still for long stretches of time. Central to that process was BedRock, Moore’s rock-climbing cabin for outdoor explorers in Kentucky’s Red River Gorge, where he stayed in isolation for several months.

Cody Johnson and Reba McEntire team up for the new collaboration “Dear Rodeo,” a song that nods to both of the country singers’ pasts: Johnson was a bull rider, McEntire a barrel-racer.
Written by Cody Johnson and Dan Couch (Kip Moore’s “Hey Pretty Girl”), the ballad explores the pull of the American sport, one that’s been romanticized in some of country music’s most iconic songs, from Garth Brooks’ “Rodeo” to George Strait’s “I Can Still Make Cheyenne.” McEntire herself sang about rodeo imagery in her hit collaboration with Brooks & Dunn,...

Kip Moore will be releasing his fourth studio album, Wild World, on May 29th. The Nashville singer-songwriter unveiled the title track on Friday, one of 12 original songs he wrote for the 13-track LP.
“I know it’s an unsettling time for a lot of people right now, and so my hope is that this music can bring even just one person some peace,” Moore said. “I try to make music that reaches people in a pure sense — something that’s light and easy to carry with you, but 1000 pounds of weight at the same time,...

On his next record, Kip Moore is looking for answers.
“It’s going to be a whole other step for me musically, lyrically, personally,” Moore tells Rolling Stone Country. “You are going to feel where I have been in my life, and the questions I have had along the way. What does love look like for me? Where do I fit with God, and what does that look like? There are a lot of questions.”
His new single, “She’s Mine,” serves as an introduction to that journey: with a...

Kip Moore gets an assist from fellow singer-songwriter Charlie Worsham on “It Ain’t California,” a rousing new track from the Georgia native’s Room to Spare: The Acoustic Sessions Ep. The new collection, which follows the Moore’s 2017 album Slowheart, arrives November 16th.
Moore had originally started writing “It Ain’t California” some 10 years prior and though he liked what he had done with the chorus, he wasn’t sure the verses were right. Mississippi native Worsham, who became friendly with Moore after they went on tour in 2014, eventually helped him straighten it out.

Kip Moore will follow up his 2017 full-length album Slowheart with a seven-song Ep that highlights his less bombastic side. Room to Spare: The Acoustic Sessions showcases Moore at his most stripped-down and writing with frequent collaborators Luke Dick and Dan Couch.
Moore co-wrote five songs on the Ep, including two with Charlie Worsham, with whom he’ll launch a mini Midwest tour in November. The Acoustic Sessions kicks off with a new version of the Slowheart standout “Plead the Fifth,” a track that has become a live staple of the...
